(SPOT.ph) There's undeniable pride in seeing the well-loved ube taking over the world, one purple dish—or drink—at a time. The same sense of pride can be said when it comes to Filipino restaurants open overseas, because frankly speaking, there's more to Filipino cuisine than this tuber. Aside from fast food chains that show a glimpse of popular Filipino dishes, The Moment Group is on its way to introducing more Filipino dishes with hayop, a Manam spin-off to open in Singapore soon.

Check out this Manam spin-off in Singapore:
hayop is The Moment Group's first venture outside of the Philippines, and they're putting their best foot forward by opening a standalone Manam spin-off in Singapore's Amoy Street in Chinatown. Because just when you thought deciding what to eat couldn't get any more difficult with the abundance of food options in the area, you can add the restaurant's classic and creative Filipino dishes to your growing list of options.
If you're getting tired of the staple Singaporean dishes such as Hainanese chicken rice, laksa, char kway teow, or satay, you can go switch it up for hayop's more playful takes on Filipino dishes. You can order the Kinilaw-Cured Hamachi, a spicy, tangy yellowtail ceviche that makes for a great starter; Adobong Dilaw, a leveled-up, golden (dilaw is a Filipino word that translates to yellow) adobo that uses pork belly dish in turmeric, coconut vinegar, and roasted bone marrow; Manam's Wagyu and Watermelon Sinigang if you want a sweet-sour broth with tender pork cuts; and the House Crispy Sisig if you need something meaty and exploding with umami to pair with rice... mountains of it.
For those who know how to speak Tagalog, you'd know that "hayop" is a word that loosely translates to "animal" or even "beast," but it's also used in other contexts that mean "amazing" or "cool." And when used to describe food, i.e. "hayop sa sarap," it means it's extremely, out-of-this-world levels delish.
“It's always been a dream for us to take Filipino food, as well as our brand of Filipino hospitality, outside of the Philippines to cities with adventurous eaters and fellow Filipinos nostalgic for the flavors of home,” shares Abba Napa, one of the founders of The Moment Group.
There's no exact date when hayop will open in Singapore, but it will soon. Reservations can be made through amoy.street@hayopnimanam.com or +6580289012.
