Right Back Where They Started: Old Swiss Inn Returns to Paco, Manila

(SPOT.ph) When news of Old Swiss Inn's closure hit our desks in the first half of 2026, there was collective sigh of sadness coming from Makati. Some restaurants come from huge, reliable chains; some are smaller and harder to stumble upon; some, like the Inn, become legendary institutions within a 20-kilometer radius.

And while many close, a lucky few manage make a comeback—so here we are again, looking forward to the same European classics we've loved for over 30 years. Old Swiss Inn is back in their first location in Paco, Manila.

Real fans know Old Swiss Inn was originally on Roxas Boulevard before it was even called that, before chef and founder Emil Landert relocated to what we now know as the home branch in Paco in the 1970s. After the devastating fire the restaurant suffered in the 1980s, however, changes had to be made; hence, new management (namely under Felix Limcaoco, Jr.) and the move to Makati in 1994, where the Old Swiss Inn became a go-to in the business district for 32 years.

But the Swiss Inn Group never let go of the old branch, and fixed it up over time. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it even acted as a commissary for delivery and pick-up orders. Now, it's reliving its glory days and then some.

So it wasn't a forever farewell after all, nor is it now a "reopening" in the strictest sense, but a return "to where our story began," as they state on their social media. So if you've been missing their Charcuterie, Goulash, or Sausage Platter—or have a few items on the menu you regret never having tried—you can still find them just down the street from Paco Park.

In the month between their Makati closure and their grand homecoming, Old Swiss Inn did anything but sit with folded hands; they still maintained their Dinner Drop service, a semi-regular delivery menu that kept that kick of nostalgia going for customers until this triumphant return that began with a soft opening in the first few days of August.
