Ooma Adds Bold Bowls of Ramen to Their Menu
You're in for a treat if you like your ramen unapologetic and full of umami.

(SPOT.ph) Ramen might have started gaining traction years ago as a food trend, but safe to say it's now considered a timeless classic in its own right. Today, there are endless iterations of the Japanese dish available in Manila—some stay closer to tradition, others are more experimental. Now imagine a warm bowl of ramen with the bold, feisty flavors that Ooma is known for. No need to dream; the modern Japanese spot now has ramen on their menu—two variations of the dish, at that!
Ramen, done the Ooma way
Ooma has quite the treat for fans of bold Japanese flavors: their own ramen lineup, currently with two players that are available at all their shops. For starters, there’s the Shoyu Chashu—a bowl made for the umami-obsessed, featuring a tonkotsu-paitan broth base (that’s pork and chicken!) lent savory depth by shoyu tare. In it, too, are kikurage mushrooms, burnt leek oil, and aonori for a hint of the taste of the sea. Aji tamago, fresh leeks, and buttery slices of torched chashu complete the ensemble.

Then you’ve got the Shio Tori, a lighter treat that also begins with Ooma’s tonkotsu-paitan broth—this time with garlic for zip, and nutty sesame. Fried leeks add texture; grilled baby corn contributes a smoky, naturally sweet note; and black garlic paste brings umami to the party. The protein in this case? Crispy fried chicken thigh, tinged with miso.
