(SPOT.ph) Flashback to 2015, when Ooma first set the scene ablaze with the debut of their dining spot at SM Megamall—and a visually striking shop it was, with equally striking, modern takes on Japanese faves. The restaurant continues to evolve, and after opening more shops around the Metro and expanding and refining their lineup over the years, they're focusing back to where it all started. Yup, Ooma's SM Megamall branch has recently gotten an update with a fresh look and new dishes to boot.

Take a look at the new Ooma Megamall, plus their new dishes:

Ooma's not going anywhere; they're in the same place on the third level of SM Megamall's Mega Fashion Hall, still flaunting a bold visual—but one more grownup and sophisticated. The reopened store's interiors features sharp lines alongside warm tones and varied textures. Of course, Ooma's modern, playful Japanese touch is maintained through elements like posters on the wall and a display taking after koinobori (traditional carp streamers).

New to Ooma, too—and very fitting given their strong hand at modern sushi—are hand rolls (P225/piece), specifically the more current kind that's folded (think taco, as opposed to cone). Choose from their four feisty variants available: the Southeast Asian-esque Chili Crab; the comforting Scallop & Tamago;  the fiery Spicy Tuna; and the Spicy Salmon. They're also expanding on what we (think we) know about Japanese dumplings with their Dessert Gyoza (P235/three pieces)—that's mochi plus chocolate or peaches inside crispy gyoza wrappers, plus accompaniments of vanilla ice cream, shoyu cream cheese, and shoyu caramel sauce for a sweet-savory party.
