Meet the Cast of Les Misérables: World Tour Spectacular

(SPOT.ph) Les Misérables: World Tour Spectacular has recently opened at the Theatre at Solaire. This version of the hit classic features a hybrid theater x concert featuring the beloved music and storyline of the musical with the spectacle and pomp of a modern concert.

While the staging may not be what we're used to in musical theater, it's still a grand—dare we say, spectacular—one, featuring a live orchestra that's front and center, hypnotic lighting, and truly emotive, moving singing. If there's one thing this concert-like treatment truly highlighted, it's the impeccable vocal prowess of its cast. If you're catching this show or have already seen it for yourselves, here's a rundown of the who's who of Les Misérables: World Tour Spectacular in Manila.

Geronimo Rauch is no stranger to the role of Jean Valjean, having played it previously in the West End and in the Spanish production of Les Mis. The leading man's other theater credits include playing the Phantom in the Phantom of the Opera on the West End and again in Madrid, Robert Kincaid in The Bridges of Madison County, Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar's Spanish national tour, and many other Spanish productions.

Rauch is also a recording artist with concert tours of his own music across Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, and Uruguay.

Much like his arch-nemesis, Javert is played by someone who’s no stranger to the role. Inspector Javert—the ultimate moral absolutist—is portrayed by Jeremy Secomb, who previously took on the part in the West End production of Les Misérables. Apart from playing Javert, Secomb has also taken on another role in Les Mis as the Bishop of Digne—ironically, the man who gave Jean Valjean his second chance—during the World Tour Concert in 2024 to 2025.

Aside from Les Mis, Secomb has other West End credits, including stints in The Phantom of the Opera and Stephen Sondheim's Old Friends (which he also did on Broadway).

Reprising her role as Fantine is Rachelle Ann Go, one of four Filipinos in this cast. At this point, Go must already have Fantine physically etched in her brain, having previously played the role in both the classic West End staging of the musical and the 40th-anniversary Les Misérables Arena Tour.

But apart from Fantine, Go's musical theater credits also include playing Gigi in Miss Saigon on Broadway, in the West End, and in the filmed 25th Anniversary version. She also played Eliza (Schuyler) Hamilton in the West End premiere of Hamilton and on the Hamilton International Tour.

Go's other theater credits include playing Jane in Tarzan and Ariel in The Little Mermaid here in Manila. These are all alongside her illustrious recording career, which includes recordings of A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes for Disney Asia and Miss Saigon: The Definitive Live Recording for Cameron Mackintosh Ltd.

Lea Salonga needs no introduction—but she'll get one anyway. Salonga is a theater powerhouse with a myriad of awards, including Olivier, Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle Awards, for originating the role of Kim in Miss Saigon in both the West End and on Broadway.

As Salonga's favorite musical, her history with Les Misérables is just as colorful. The theater maven has played both Eponine and Fantine several times over the years. She played both roles on Broadway, appeared as Eponine in the 10th Anniversary concert at the Royal Albert Hall, and as Fantine in the 25th Anniversary concert at the O2.

Apart from Les Mis and Miss Saigon, Salonga has a laundry list of theater credits, which most recently include performances in Sondheim's Old Friends, Here Lies Love, and Once on This Island.

Red Concepcion is hard to miss in Les Misérables: World Tour Spectacular. Aside from performing the zaniest numbers and his gremlin-like presence, Concepcion's vocals will stop you in your tracks with their power, a testament not only to his talent but also to his familiarity with the role, having previously played it in Les Misérables at The Muny and at St. Louis Municipal Opera Theatre.

Concepcion's other international theater credits include playing Amos Hart in Chicago on Broadway, The Engineer in Miss Saigon on tour across the US, UK, and Ireland, and Adam/Felicia in Priscilla: Queen of the Desert in Singapore. He also played the same role in a Manila production of Priscilla, for which he won the Gawad Buhay Award and Aliw Award for Outstanding Male Actor in a Musical.

Rounding out the list of Filipinos in the main cast is Filipino-American Emily Bautista, playing the friend-zoned, impoverished Eponine.

Much like the others, this isn't Bautista's first stint as her character. She previously played the role of Eponine in the North American Tour of Les Misérables in 2018.

Bautista's theater credits include playing the role of Kim in Miss Saigon for the North American Tour, Ayla in Vanara (Hackney Empire), and as an understudy and ensemble member for Miss Saigon again on Broadway.

Apart from the theater, she has also appeared in films like Which Brings Me To You and The Compound. She also made her mark on the small screen with a role in Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin.

Will Callan revisits his role as Marius in Les Misérables: World Tour Spectacular, after previously playing the role in the West End production from 2023 to 2024. and in the UK and Ireland tour from 2021 to 2023.

Apart from playing the young bourgeois, Callan also played Sebastian in Cruel Intentions during its UK and Ireland run, and Jake Johnson in The Government Inspector.

With her crystal-clear soprano, Lulu-Mae Pears brings warmth and innocence to the much-loved role of Cosette. Pears first took on the role in the West End production of Les Misérables from 2023 to 2024.

Her other theater credits include Allison in Cry Baby, and Graziella in West Side Story at the Ljubljana Festival in Slovenia.

Harry Chandler returns to his role as Enjolras, having previously played the role in the West End 2023 production of Les Misérables.

His other theater credits include playing Leonard Vole in Witness for the Prosecution, Teddy in Come Dine With Me: The Musical, Billy in Outlaws: The Ballad of Billy The Kid, and as a cover for the role of Che in Evita.

Earl Carpenter has played the role of the Bishop of Digne before in the 2019 Les Misérables: The Staged Concert, but he is perhaps best known for his performances as Javert in Les Misérables on Tour (one stop of which was Manila in 2016) and in the Les Misérables 25th Anniversary Production.

One of the more seasoned performers in the production, Carpenter comes with a long list of theater credits. His résumé includes playing the Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty’s Theatre and on tour, the Prime Minister in the world premiere of Mandela, and Dubhdara in The Pirate Queen, among many others. He has also appeared in productions such as We Will Rock You, Zorro, The Secret Garden, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Aside from the lead performers, Les Misérables: World Tour Spectacular also includes a slew of ensemble members, each with their own long list of credentials, including some who have also played roles in one of the many productions of Les Misérables through the years.

Accompanying the vocal performances is a 28-piece orchestra under the direction of Adrian Kirk. Much like a standard musical theater production, this orchestra performs every song live, but in this hybrid production, it is not in the pit but also front and center on stage.
