GUIDE: How to Access Your Digital TIN ID on Your Phone

(SPOT.ph) Your TIN is one of those details you rarely think about—until a bank, employer, government office, or online form suddenly asks for it. Now, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is giving you another way to access that information from your phone.

We're not just talking about a saved photo or screenshot of your TIN card. The Digital TIN ID is now available through the official eGovPH app, where you can view it through the Mobile ID Wallet feature.

The BIR has made it clear that the Digital TIN ID may be accepted as a valid government-issued ID for transactions, as long as it can be properly verified. More on that later.

A digital version of the TIN ID was first made available through BIR’s Online Registration and Update System (ORUS) in 2023, but it wasn’t until BIR Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 34-2026 took effect on April 24, 2026 that taxpayers could access it more easily through the eGovPH app.

To check if your Digital TIN ID is already available in the app, download the eGovPH app from the Play Store or App Store, then create an account or log in using your existing credentials.

After logging in, complete the app’s identity verification process, which may include facial recognition.

Once your account is verified, tap the Digital ID icon or go to the Mobile ID Wallet section of the app. Your BIR Digital TIN ID should appear there if your eGovPH profile matches your BIR records or if you already have an existing Digital TIN ID through ORUS.

If it does not appear, you may still need to apply for your Digital TIN ID through ORUS first. Taxpayers with an existing TIN may apply for a Digital TIN ID whether or not they already have a physical TIN card.

If you're only now applying through ORUS, BIR requires creating an account on the platform, an updated email address with your Revenue District Office, and a current 1x1 photo with a white background. The photo should have been taken within the last six months.

One thing to note: how your Digital TIN ID is verified depends on where it was generated.

If your Digital TIN ID was created through ORUS, its authenticity may be checked by scanning the QR code on the ID. If it was generated or accessed through eGovPH, BIR said verification can be done by presenting the ID within the eGovPH app.

That means a screenshot may not be enough when the receiving party needs to verify the ID. The safer move is to open the eGovPH app and present the Digital TIN ID from there.
