(SPOT.ph) Artificial intelligence (AI) is everywhere these days, but how much do you actually know about how it works? If you want to go beyond the basics, you can do just that without paying for classes. The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is teaming up with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to offer free online courses on AI and cloud computing.

Yup, that's Amazon's cloud computing arm, which provides the technology behind countless websites, apps, and digital services around the world.

The courses will be offered through the TESDA Online Program. The best part is you don't need to be an IT graduate or have any coding experience to get started.

What free AI courses can you take?

Three courses are being introduced under the partnership, each one designed for learners at different levels.

Fundamentals of AI is the beginner-friendly option. It introduces how artificial intelligence works, including machine learning and the ways AI is used in everyday applications. No technical background is required.

AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner focuses on cloud computing, or how businesses use internet-based services to store data, run applications, and manage their digital operations. It covers AWS services, security, system architecture, and pricing.

AWS Certified AI Practitioner goes deeper into AI, including generative AI, responsible AI practices, and how AWS tools can be used to solve real-world problems.

How to enroll in TESDA's free AI courses

The training is open to all Filipinos through the TESDA Online Program. There are no enrollment fees or prerequisites.

All you will need to do is create an account if you don't already have one. From there, browse Courses and look under Information and Communication Technology, which includes a dedicated AWS Courses section.

Just keep in mind that while the online courses are free, you may have to pay to take the official AWS certification exams. The good news is that those who complete certain courses may qualify for further training at the TESDA Women's Center, where they could also get vouchers to help cover the exam fees. These are subject to certain requirements, though.

Passing an AWS certification exam earns you a credential you can add to your resume.
