Meet Chuchay, the Beloved Aspin Living Her Best Life at Fairview Terraces

(SPOT.ph) Ayala Malls is no stranger to four-legged friends with several of its branches becoming homes for stray aspins across the metro. But among all of them, few are quite as famous as “Chuchay,” the resident aspin of Fairview Terraces in Quezon City. She might just be the most beloved regular—and her only real rivals might be her fellow puppers.

To celebrate National Aspin Day on August 18, Chuchay took over the Fairview Terraces' social media pages to grace us with her sweet face. Yes, she’s adorable, extremely well-behaved, and it turns out she’s even a natural in front of the camera. Chuchay captioned her photos “Arfbowarfrawraf”—it might need a little work, but with a face like that, who’s complaining?

Chuchay has been part of the Fairview Terraces family for several years now. She made her debut on the shopping mall’s Facebook page back in 2023, looking sleepy after the morning’s general assembly. According to the mall, she initially took shelter at Fairview Terraces before eventually making the property her home.

A year later, animal welfare group Pawssion Project highlighted Chuchay’s story, sharing photos of her lounging in her favorite spots and enjoying plenty of well-deserved pats. The group also noted that she is spayed and vaccinated—and even has her own official mall ID badge.

By then, Chuchay had settled comfortably into mall life. Photos shared by Pawssion Project show her lounging around Fairview Terraces, making herself at home.

Scroll through her pictures, and it might seem like Chuchay’s main duties are resting and looking cute. You’re not completely wrong—but she shared a short video a few months ago offering a closer look at the life of a beloved mall dog.

Her full-time job is “keeping everyone guessing if I’m still hungry after eating.” Other duties include “interspecies teamwork” (an HR directive, apparently) and roaming the mall in search of yummy treats, cozy nap spots, and belly rubs.

As a famous aspin, part of the job is also posing for mall-goers whenever they whip out their cameras. Luckily, Chuchay has no bad angles. And as long as fans are paying her with head scratches, she seems more than happy with her current workload.

Chuchay’s cozy lifestyle is a testament to Ayala Malls’ commitment to being pet-friendly spaces. The group has comprehensive pet paw-licies, categorizing the different malls as Lax Tier, Limited Tier, and Hybrid. Pet owners are advised to apply for the Ayala Malls Pet ID to help create a safer animal-friendly environment for everyone.

Beyond welcoming pets of different breeds and sizes, Ayala Malls are well-known for providing shelters for stray cats and dogs. Many branches even feature feeding stations with dry kibble and water. In 2025, the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) recognized Ayala Malls Vertis North with the first-ever Certified Pet-Friendly seal for its pet-friendly spaces.

Next time you’re in Fairview Terraces for a movie or lunch out, keep an eye out for Chuchay. Just remember to let her rest if she’s getting her beauty sleep—and maybe offer a gentle scratch behind the ears if she wanders your way. (That goes for all the resident dogs of Ayala Malls, too.)
