Charge Into Chinese New Year With These Fresh Horse Finds

(SPOT.ph) Lunar New Year in 2026 falls on February 17 and officially marks the beginning of the Year of the Fire Horse. Expect to see festivities, feasts, and a whole lot of red for bringing in that good luck. To ring in the Lunar New Year, we rounded up some special releases from brands you can wear for a great year ahead, or even just to add something fiery and fresh to your closet. We know you won't say no to anything that could potentially improve your fortune!

The horse is the seventh animal in the cycle, and we won't see another Year of the Horse until 2038. Known for its strength, vitality, and confidence, the horse brings forth change, opportunities, and a faster pace that could usher in growth. The Year of the Snake in 2025 may have been about shedding the past and letting go of what no longer works, and now the new year is a chance to charge ahead with renewed energy (and wardrobe!)

Who says you have to sacrifice comfort for style? Birkenstocks can be dressed up, too, and the Lunar New Year editions of their popular silhouettes bring not only ease with every step, but also some glitz and shine as we welcome the Year of the Horse. The Lunar New Year Arizona Classic Slides in Black or Vanilla are adorned with gold buckles and illustrations over the thick straps and retail for P10,490 a pair. If you want to go the extra mile, the Arizona Classic Velvet Red Rust Slides are in a deep burgundy velvet with trim, complete with gold buckles as well. This more premium pair retails for P19,990.

Swatch released their Riding The Clouds watch last year priced at P6,400 in preparation for the Year of the Horse and if you didn't nab one then, now's a great time to do so. Created in collaboration with Swatch artist-in-residence Yu Wenjie, the watch's dial and matte transparent case feature two horses against a backdrop of crimson flames and red clouds. Golden hour and minute hands glow in the dark so you can tell the time whenever and wherever, and a thin, golden second hand ticks away as time passes. The timepiece's design on the face spills over to the entirety of the watch strap.

This all-brown pair from Nike might have you looking for more red, but it's very much an homage to the horse. Textured jacquard and waxed leather give the upper a unique, elegant feel, punctuated by a horse embossed on a red wax seal planted in the middle of the tongue. These Luka 5 'Lunar New Year' PF Basketball Shoes (P8,095) were built for basketball player Luka Dončić's mastery of movement that reflect the horse's great values: fast when needed, restrained as necessary, all the while unstoppable and confident.

When it comes to seasonal merch, Starbucks is at the forefront with their functional and well-designed tumblers, beverage containers, and other accessories. Their 2026 Zodiac Collection dropped early in January and featured a 12oz Year of the Horse mug in red with 3D details and touches of shiny gold, along with a Horse Coin Bank with tiny floral illustrations. The Horse Coin Bank was also sipping from a Starbucks cup! They're sold out online, but you might be luckier visiting a Starbucks branch near you.

While The Paper Bunny is known for their bags, they also carry accessories that can level up your style game. For the Year of the Horse, the Singaporean brand released a Silk Bandana that features a seasonal illustration of a horse being lifted high by the brand's fruit reusable bag charms, surrounded by other The Paper Bunny staples like the Dream Sip Bottle, the Ribbon Charm, and even the Mahjong Tile Pouch Charm. Made from 100% silk twill, the bandana retails for P1,850 and can be worn multiple ways to add a playful touch to your OOTDs, bags, and even your pets.

Cool and easygoing, these Lunar New Year shirts from Adidas are equal parts celebratory and comfortable. The LNY Tees are available in black and white and sport a patterned patchwork of a horse in a dynamic pose on the back of the shirt, while a more subtle graphic on the upper left chest takes up space in the front. The loose fit of the P3,300 shirt pairs easily with any casual outfit so you can wear it year-round.

For something more a little understated and versatile, you can't go wrong with timeless pieces from Levi's. You might miss the details, but upon closer inspection, the Lunar New Year collection actually features thoughtful edits and additions to garments that announce the horse's arrival and elevates a basic item. A red button and tag stands out on Lunar New Year Men's Reversible Short-Sleeve Shirt Jacket, complete with horses stamped on the pocket and a tiny golden horseshoe sewn onto the corner of the collar. Not feeling the denim today? Flip it over to reveal the khaki side for a welcome change. You can get two jacket for P4,899.

Nothing beats a timeless, versatile silhouette. Onitsuka Tiger's Mexico 66 has enjoyed time in the spotlight throughout the years, and even if it might be the shoe in the top spot, it will always be a reliable wardrobe staple. The Chinese New Year limited edition iteration of the Mexico 66 is priced at P10,500 and reimagines the popular style with a sleek white upper, red stripes, and a textured pull tab at the back of the shoe. A studded, golden horseshoe bit slipped into laces completes the pair. They're already sold out in stores, but our fingers are crossed there's a restock or you're somehow able to nab a pair in your size.

LEGO releases a model for Lunar New Year every year and 2026 is no different with the Chinese Festivals 80119 Galloping Horses Canvas set that retails for P7,999. The canvas shows a brush painting of four galloping horses and serves as a backdrop to the model, the image of which symbolizes the blessing of success upon arrival in the new year. Four horse toys up front have limbs you can articulate to make it look as if they're galloping out of the painting. There are red and gold details to attract good fortune, but there's also some green for a welcome touch of contrast. There are eight horses depicted in the set—that's considered an auspicious number!

The Red Fire Horse Murano Glass Dangle Charm from Pandora features red Murano glass and is plated in 14k gold, but it's the little details that make this charm extra special. On the back, golden cloud and foil details swirl around, and the hoop the horse is attached to is in the shape of a flower. There's a correct side to show when you're wearing it as a pendant or a charm on your bracelet, but we'd argue both sides are equally pretty. The charm is P5,850 and is already available in Pandora stores.
