The New FitFlop x Pantone Pairs Are Easy on the Eyes and Feet

(SPOT.ph) Every year, Pantone releases a color that's pretty much a blueprint for brands, designers, and manufacturers in setting trends, especially in style and fashion. Like clockwork, you'll find products (and best believe that we'll have them all in a list) inspired by the hue of the year so you can stock up on pieces to accompany you for the next 12 months. We know it's not time for the Pantone Color of the Year yet, but footwear brand FitFlop has a colorful idea: a collaboration with Pantone for a collection of footwear in the softest, dreamiest of colors that will walk with you through year and every occasion.

Called the "Colour of Comfort," FitFlop and Pantone's limited-edition collaboration brings standard colors from Pantone's library to FitFlop's comfortable silhouettes: two Delicato pairs, with a Mary Jane and a ballerina silhouette; Retro-Q, FitFlop's sneaker offering; and Iquishion, a flip-flop. The lineup is decked in pink and green hues, with a little bit of yellow, which varies across the styles. According to Pantone, "each shade was selected to evoke lightness, ease, and emotional calm," something that we all need in our lives.
"Color is one of the most powerful tools to influence how we feel—it is experienced as much as it is seen. Through our collaboration with FitFlop, we've brought science and psychology of color into footwear in a truly intentional way," said Laurie Pressman, VP Pantone Color Institute.
We saw the pairs online (though they're mostly sold out as of writing), but they're also available at select FitFlop stores nationwide if you want to check them out in person. In the meantime, allow us to give you a glimpse of the collection first. This way, you'll know exactly which style you're going to grab from the shelf.
Let's start with the Delicato pairs. Both silhouettes are all the rage these days. The Delicato x Pantone Poise Leather Ballerinas exude the dainty, ballerina vibe—a slim, low-profile build and no-frills design, but with the scrunched-up detail around the opening that secures your foot as you go out and about. The same convenient heel tab can be seen in its Mary Jane counterpart, the Delicato x Pantone Soft Leather Mary Jane (P8,995). It has the same low-profile silhouette in soft luxe nappa leather and a simple, versatile design. Unlike the ballerina flat, it has an elastic strap over the opening.
The Mary Jane pairs are available in Mauve Chalk (Pantone 12-2902) and Pale Aqua (Pantone 13-5305), which are lighter and almost frosty shades of pink and green, while the ballerina flats are in the colors of Frosty Green (Pantone 15-5706) and Misty Rose (Pantone 15-1512), that lean toward softer, pastel hues of the same colors. Another silhouette in the collection with the same colorways but a different treatment and with more shades and a retro vibe is the Retro-Q x Pantone Sneaker (P6,995).
The Retro-Q x Pantone Sneaker is reminiscent of old-school sneakers you see on everyone's feet during the 80s. The upper has a mix of fabric, suede, and nylon that ties the vintage look and feel together and also allows for deeper and lighter shades of pink and green to dress up the shoe. The midsole boasts FitFlop's advanced iQushion tech for more comfort and support.
Last but not least, the iQushion x Pantone Flip Flop (P2,395). It's like your typical surfer-dude flip-flops, a silhouette that's appropriate for the weather we're having right now. But that's not all that there is to love about it. This pair also boasts the iQushion air-foam tech that feels like you're stepping on clouds. It has cushy, impact-absorbing pillows, ergonomic arch contouring, and rebound soles that will have you wanting to walk for hours.
There are three colorways for this style: Cameo Brown (Pantone 16-1516), Iceberg Green (Pantone 16-5808), and Boulder (Pantone 14-1110). The Cameo Brown and Iceberg Green offer deeper, muted mauve and green on the body, respectively. The Boulder, on the other hand, has like a sandy, yellow color.
