Fujifilm's New X-E5 Camera Lets You Create Your Own Film Filters + Presets

(SPOT.ph) Belated Happy World Photography Day, Spotters! We're a bit late, but you can still celebrate it by showing off your photos. Your angles. The color grading that fits your 'gram aesthetic, be it on your main accounts or finstas (IYKYK). Or, in this case, checking out a new mirrorless camera from Japanese brand Fujifilm. The brand's X-E5 is now available in the Philippines, and it comes with new features worth checking out, including one where photographers can create their own "film recipes."

While it only takes a few taps on your phone to get a good shot, it can take some time and effort on a camera to get the perfect setup. Well, not anymore. Fujifilm's latest X-E5, now available in the Philippines, allows you to save your presets and apply them with the turn of a dial on top of Fujifilm's range of signature classic films—one of which they're known for in the analog camera world—as a base.
The Fujifilm X-E5 boasts a newly designed Film Simulation dial, which contains slots not just for the usual image quality settings, but also individual Film Simulation (FS1, FS2, FS3) recipes that users can customize, store, and access ASAP.
To customize these slots and put your own spin on Fujifilm's films, first click Image Quality Settings and find the Film Simulation Dial Setting. There, select which film simulation or recipe should be assigned to the slots, and choose your preferred settings. Here are some of the digital filters you can mix-and-match for your "recipes": monochromatic color, grain effect, color chrome effect, color chrome FX blue, smooth skin effect, white balance, dynamic range, D range priority, tone curve, color, sharpness, high ISO NR, and clarity. With this, you can spend less (or no) time on post-processing, or focus on getting the angles and composition right during quick shoots.

Another feature to look out for in the X-E5 is the new Classic Display mode, which allows you to put a nostalgic, classic spin reminiscent of old-school rangefinders—light meter included—on your snapshots. The Surround View function, on the other hand, allows you to utilize the aspect ratios when shooting—there you can see elements that will enter your frame and time your shots perfectly. You can easily switch these modes on a versatile control lever.
The X-E5 is also the first in the series to feature a five-axis in-body image stabilization (IBIS) system, which ensures more stable shots compared to just lens stabilization systems.
But of course, last but not least, the form. The X-E5 breathes the classic Fujifilm aesthetic, with refined touches throughout the body. It has a retro-inspired design mixed with modern functionality. It's a portable device that lets you capture great quality shots with Fujifilm's signature films on top of your own film simulations.
