(SPOT.ph) September not only signals the start of the holiday season here in the country, but also the time of year when people consider upgrading their current phones to the all-new, much-anticipated iteration of Apple's flagship smartphone series (or at least to a newer iPhone model because we know their prices are also going to drop). Like clockwork, the iPhone 18 Pro is here, and with it is the newest, most exciting addition to the Apple lineup: their first-ever foldable iPhone, iPhone Duo.

The Apple Event livestream took place at three in the morning today, September 10. In that hour-long stream, Apple introduced its latest releases: the iPhone Duo, iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4, and AirPods 5. Yep, you might be wondering why there's no iPhone 18 or iPhone 18 Plus like the ones before it, but don't worry; the iPhone Duo definitely makes up for it, which is exactly why we're kicking off with it.

The iPhone Duo is a first for Apple. The tech giant's first ever foldable phone now holds the title of having the "largest iPhone display ever" and the "thinnest iPhone" when it's spread open. "It's an iPhone unlike any iPhone," they said.

The foldable feature opens up variety of user experiences. Think of it like a mini iPad when open, allowing for a larger, more vivid viewing and gaming experience. Not only that, but the large screen gives more space for more tasks, which you can do side-by-side with Split View mode. We love a good multitasking feature.

Unlike an actual iPad, the iPhone Duo can fold; more comfortable and easier to fit right into your pocket. There are more features like StandBy, which turns the iPhone Duo into a digital display, like a clock, photo frame, or a display for your favorite widgets.

When opened, it has a 7.6" Super Retina XDR display, which is 50% larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max. The outer display has a 5.4-inch Super Retina XDR. The iPhone Duo is powered by the A20 Pro chip with the Dual 16-core Neural Engine, which is 20% faster 6-core CPU than A19 Pro, which can be found in the iPhone 17 Series.

The iPhone Duo will guarantee you great shots, too, with its 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide and Main camera on the back, and 12MP Center Stage front camera. Being foldable means there's also an outer display, which can give you a live preview of a shot through Duo Preview. This is perfect for those who want to get their photos taken but are very particular about framing and poses. Another standout feature is the Kid Cue, where you can play animations on the outer display so you can get your babies or toddlers to stay still and look at the camera.

In terms of battery life, the iPhone Duo can run up to 44 hours of video playback when using the outer display and up to 31 hours for the inner display.

In the next few months, the iPhone Duo will also support Apple Pencil with USB-C. With a new phone design comes new accessories, too. The iPhone Duo Folio is a case that has a kickstand that allows for more angles and stable viewing.

Next up, the iPhone Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. What first caught our eye is the newest colorway it comes in: deep burgundy. Apart from the fresh, sophisticated shade, both phones also come in Glacier, Silver, and Black.

It has 48MP for all rear cameras (Main, Ultra Wide, Telephoto) with up to 8x optical-quality zoom and variable aperture (a.k.a better lighting and depth of field). If you're very nitpicky about your shots, you'll find more Pro settings and even photo editing in the Camera. You get 18MP Center Stage for the front camera.

The iPhone Pro Max will have a "massive leap in battery life," with up to 43 hours of video playback—that's six more hours than the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which means more doomscrolling. You can get up to 50% charge in around 15 minutes, too, so just in case you forgot to plug in your charger hours before you leave, you'll still have enough juice with 15 minutes. It has the "longest battery life" ever.

The iPhone 18 Pro is packed with the A20 Pro chip, which is Apple's "most powerful and efficient iPhone chip design ever." The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max have a 6.3" and 6.9" Super Retina XDR display, respectively.

According to the Apple website, the iPhone Duo's pre-orders begin on October 16, with availability on October 23. Meanwhile, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max's pre-orders will begin on September 12, with availability on September 18.
