Mark Your Calendars: A Three-Day Storytelling Festival Is Coming This May
This one's for the kids and the kids-at-heart.

(SPOT.ph) Is the kid in your life—your niece or nephew, or perhaps your kid—a budding performer, with their starpower growing too big for family charades and living room improv? If the answer is yes (or you just want to jumpstart your career as their manager), then this upcoming event might just be the perfect time to take their talent for spinning tales and play-acting to the next level.
Heads up: Haraya is returning to Museo Pambata for a summer of interactive theater and imaginative fun. Here's what to expect from this three-day storytelling festival coming this May.
What’s in store at Haraya Storytelling Festival 2026
From May 14 to 16, Museo Pambata's Balay Yatu transforms into a space where kids can let their most whimsical imaginations run wild. Haraya Storytelling Festival's theme this year is “Binago. Binuo. Binuhay,” and is all about introducing the joy of Filipino fables and theater to young minds.
Each day, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the festival features a packed lineup. Participants can look forward to three interactive plays: Isa, Dalawa, Takbo!, Bag(y)o, and Si Amihan at si Apolaki. As well as storytelling sessions featuring beloved titles from Adarna House and Canvas. Plus, older kids (and the titos and titas) can also look forward to creative workshops on topics ranging from improv and musical theater to storytelling.

Although the festival runs for only three days, Haraya is more than this one event. At its core, Hiraya is a long-term learning project based on the research of drama and theater teacher Kei Mamangun Sison into the use of performative storytelling for children’s holistic development.
What started as an academic exploration is now an ongoing platform in collaboration with the University of the Philippines DSCTA through Dulaang Laboratoryo. Its unique, inclusive approach has already been presented to audiences in Australia, with upcoming runs scheduled for Singapore and Indonesia.
