(SPOT.ph) Exploring forests and woodlands at night isn’t exactly at the top of everyone’s bucket list, especially with spooky season afoot. But when the forest stirs at sundown, it doesn’t always involve fearsome encounters. At Masungi Georeserve, it’s more about how nocturnal life mingles with folklore to ignite the Filipino imagination.

The much-awaited and blockbuster Masungi: After Hours night tours are back for a Halloween-inspired run. If you’re still looking for something fun and interesting to do this Halloween season but aren’t too keen on the typical scares and frights, this one’s for you.

What to expect from the Masungi: After Hours tour in Masungi Georeserve

Every Saturday and Sunday, starting October 24 until November 29, Masungi Georeserve will remain open until nightfall for the Masungi: After Hours tour, where participants are welcome for a unique nature experience. Bring your sense of adventure and imagination, as this limited-time tour introduces you to the nocturnal creatures that have inspired Philippine folklore for generations.

In this tour, you will be exploring Masungi’s limestone formations along the Discovery Trail, passing through iconic landmarks such as Tatay and Yungib. You will be donning a helmet with red-light headlamps to illuminate the path without disturbing the trail’s wildlife.

You will also be joined by well-trained park rangers who will serve as your guides and storytellers, punctuating the 3-4 hour-trek with storytime stops that blend science and mythology. Finally, you’ll wrap up the night with a light snack over a cozy campfire.
