Panagbenga Festival 2026: Schedule of Activities in Baguio

(SPOT.ph) It's no secret that Baguio City is a cool place to be. There are always plenty of reasons to visit the Summer Capital of the Philippines year-round, but come February, all that is kicked up a notch. After all, it’s Panagbenga season.

Yes, folks, it's that time of year once again: the Panagbenga Flower Festival is starting soon. If you've been looking for a sign to head up to the City of Pines, this is it. As Baguio City gears up for the big 3-0 of its biggest festival, we've rounded up all the things you could expect when you head north this February.

The first Panagbenga Festival was held in 1995 and has since been a yearly celebration of Baguio City and the Cordillera's rich cultural heritage and the beauty and abundance of their land. 2026 marks the festival's 30th year.

"This year's Panagbenga continues to remind us that Baguio is a city that continues to grow, progress, renew, and prosper no matter the challenges we face," says Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong, who also serves as the festival's chairperson in an address during the festival's official launch. "In its 30 years, the Panagbenga Festival has evolved. It has become a living story of who we are as a people, as one community. Just as flowers bloom season after season, we continue to rise, drawing strength from each other in our culture," he adds.

Additionally, Magalong calls on artists, tourists, and other stakeholders to work together to bring the festival to life, hoping that Panagbenga continues to inspire hope and foster a spirit that blooms without end, "despite the uncertainties and challenges we see as a nation."

Unknown to many, the Panagbenga started as a way for Baguio City to boost tourism after the devastation of the 1990 earthquake, which left much of the city's infrastructure in ruins—a reminder that the city can rise from the ashes.

Today, the Panagbenga festival stretches from February to early March, having grown from its original 10-day celebration. It now includes other events often scheduled around Valentine's Day, like the Philippine Military Academy week and the Filipino-Chinese Spring Festival.

The Panagbenga Flower Festival officially kicks off on February 1 with a Grand Parade around the city and runs all the way until March 8. As part of the closing celebrations, the day is capped by a grand fireworks display lighting up the night sky.

The celebrations span over a month with several pocket events happening every weekend in February. Now, you might be thinking if heading to Baguio every week might be too expensive and time-consuming—well, that's true, so if you're looking for the best weekend to head up, that might be the weekend of February 28 to March 1. This is when the colorful, floral and street dance parades happen, which are arguably the most exciting parts of the Panagbenga festivities.
