ICYMI: Taiwan Just Extended Visa-Free Entry for Pinoys
Here's what you need to know about the visa extension.

(SPOT.ph) Good news! Taiwan is extending the visa-free status of Filipino travelers for one more year—meaning we've got another year of stress-free trips to the land of bubble tea and xiao long bao.
If you've been stalling your trip anticipating visa-related drama, consider this your signal to finally make that trip to Taiwan happen. Bring the good news to your barkada group chat and start planning your Taiwanese holiday today.
Here's what you need to know about Taiwan's visa-free policy for Filipino travelers:
The visa-free privilege for Filipinos was originally set to expire by the end of July 2025, but this latest extension is part of Taiwan’s push to boost tourism and strengthen ties with its neighbors— us, included.
In his announcement of the extension, Taiwanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung called Filipinos "Taiwan's important neighbor," and stressed how Filipinos and Taiwanese people share the "core values of freedom and democracy."

And he’s not just being polite—Filipinos made up Taiwan’s top tourist market in 2024, with over 415,000 of us flying in for night markets, adventures, and a taste of Taiwanese culture. Not to mention, the over 160,000 migrant workers already based in Taiwan, doing their part to support the Taiwanese (and Philippine) Economy.

Taiwanese citizens can also enter the Philippines visa-free:
Taiwan first opened its doors to visa-free travel for Filipinos back in November 2017—and since then, we’ve been getting yearly extensions like clockwork. But that's not the end of the story just yet.
In the same speech, Chia-lung also manifested another relationship milestone for the Philippines and Taiwan.
"We also hope that in the near future, Taiwanese people will be able to travel visa-free to the Philippines under the principle of reciprocity," he says.
True enough, on June 19, the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO)—the Philippines' representative office in Taiwan—announced that Taiwanese tourists may also enter the Philippines for tourism purposes without a visa for a non-extendible and non-convertible period of 14 days, starting July 1.

Under this new regulation, Taiwanese tourists only need to present a passport valid for at least six months, a confirmed booking for accommodations, proof of financial capacity, and a return or onward ticket to the next country of destination— the very same requirements Filipinos need to obtain when visiting Taiwan.
Here's to hoping that both countries keep rolling the welcome mat out for each other every year sans visa requirements.
