Heads Up, Bookworms: The Stacks at One Ayala Is Making a Comeback

(SPOT.ph) It wasn't long ago when bookworms all over Metro Manila exploded at the idea of a book nook in one of the country's busiest mall-slash-terminal. To say that The Stacks at One Ayala was well-received when it debuted in late January is an understatement. In fact, many are longing to see it return.

Well, it looks like our calls for more reading spaces have been heard, as we just spotted news that The Stacks at One Ayala is making a permanent comeback this April. Here's what we know so far

In a post on its social media pages, One Ayala announced the return of The Stacks, but this time at a new location in the mall-slash-terminal and, more importantly, for good.

Its post reads, "It’s back, and this time, it stays. The Stacks is now open at Level 4, a quiet space to pause, read, and pass stories on. Bring a book, take a book, and be part of something shared, one page at a time—" confirming the library's new spot two floors above the original.

But it's not just the location that's changed, The Stacks at One Ayala has also been visibly scaled down. When it debuted, The Stacks featured a two-level library hall that combined bookstores selling their wares, take-a-book-leave-a-book shelves, and a public reading space. But now, The Stacks no longer have vendors selling books, nor is it a vertical reading oasis.

The space it occupies is more of a carpeted nook with bean bags and a couple of seats where guests can plop down and read. But don't worry, it's still a place where commuters can pause and relax between their commutes. Additionally, the book exchange shelves are still there, so if you want to share a read and trade it in for a new one, you can still do that at the new The Stacks.

But more than just a reading nook, The Stacks will also host monthly bookish activities courtesy of the group Packing Sheets. Expect events like zine-making, poetry readings, and other lit-based activities, which will be announced monthly. This way, you can plan your schedule around them if anything catches your interest.
