LOOK: SM North EDSA Gets Its Own Free Book Nook Library

Some of us are perfectly happy with our noses buried in a book all day, but others would rather shop, dine, or catch a movie. So, what if you could do both? And no, we’re not talking about camping out in a cafe and hogging a table—we mean, plopping down in a quiet corner to read, no pressure to spend a cent. If that sounds like one more reason to hit the mall, head to SM North Edsa and check out their newest spot: The Book Nook, a free community library space.

You might've heard about The Book Nook before. After all, this is the concept's third spot in the Metro, with one in SM Aura and another in The Podium. Just like its previous iterations, SM North EDSA's Book Nook is a free public community library in the mall. Here, readers of all ages can come, sit, and read sans any fees.

Located on the third floor of SM North EDSA's Annex building,  The Book Nook is a cozy window-side hideout with carpeted floors, a curved sofa, and shelves lined with reads from every genre. Book lovers will get a thrill browsing its fresh stacks, stocked with everything from self-help and autobiographies to fiction, essays, comics, and more. There's also a wide range of children's books perfect for distracting—er, keeping the kids busy while Mom or Dad shop around.

What's great about the reads at The Book Nook is that you can take them home. Yup, if you happen to fall in love with a particular title, you can bring the book home and finish it there—just make sure to bring it back and leave a book to trade so more people can enjoy reading at this spot.

There aren't a lot of strict rules to follow when at the Book Nook, but it's best to treat it like you would a library. This means speaking in hush tones, refraining from eating or drinking, and, most importantly, taking care of the books you borrow. And just like in a real library, if you're looking for a title in particular or have questions about book trading and borrowing, you can always ask the Book Nook ambassadors available on-site—they're kind of like the unofficial libraries in these parts.
