You Can Read and Donate Books at This Mall's Open Library

(SPOT.ph) When thinking of a good spot to sit down and enjoy a good book, malls aren't exactly the first thing that comes to mind. They can get crowded and overwhelming. You can buy books there and maybe spend a few minutes skimming the pages but that's about it—or so one thought.
The Book Nook in SM Aura changed the game for people who just want to sit down and catch a moment of peace by reading a good book inside a mall. It's an open library where mall visitors can stop and read books for free. Granted, book lovers from far and wide have been willing to go to the South for it—but you don't have to anymore. At least not as far down. The Book Nook is inching closer to the middle of the Metro—in this case, Mandaluyong. The Book Nook is opening its second branch in The Podium.

Just like its first branch in SM Aura, the Book Nook located on the fifth level of The Podium is an open space with shelves filled with tomes. In the middle of the curved shelves are tables and chairs where people can unwind. The welcoming and cozy space is designed by renowned Filipino architect Royal Pineda of Royal Pineda + Architecture Design. You can spot pops of green that stand out amid the neutral aesthetic of the place.
It's a given that you can expect books that span across genres and categories all lined up and stacked on top of each other on the shelves, but this new branch boasts a Philippine History corner that is dedicated to titles donated by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines. One of the books you can find inside is Dr. Jose Rizal's novel, Noli Me Tangere.
And if you have books that you want to donate, you can drop them all off here too.
A Fully Booked branch is conveniently a few steps away from the Book Nook, so you can read the book ASAP—or books because, we know you, you can't resist getting just one. You don't have to wait for when you get home to do so. Book Nook aims to "empower Filipinos through literacy, self-expression, and communal giving."
