Mark Your Calendars: CHICAGO The Musical Is Hitting the Manila Stage in 2027

(SPOT.ph) 2027 is looking all razzle-dazzled out as CHICAGO The Musical is slated to take over the Metro Manila stage come March 2027.

The six-time Tony Award-winning musical is bringing its jazzed-up tunes back to Filipino audiences more than a decade after its 2014 Manila run. So if you're ready for all that jazz, it's time to put on your face and mark your calendars. Here's everything we know so far.

CHICAGO The Musical is coming to the Theatre at Solaire for a limited-time run from March 9 to 28, 2027. Set in the 1920s, this jazz-era musical follows Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who's on trial for murder. With slick lawyer Billy Flynn by her side, Roxie turns her crime into a media spectacle—but she’ll have to fight for the spotlight against fellow inmate and vaudeville star Velma Kelly.

You might remember CHICAGO from the 2002 movie version starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, Renee Zellweger, and Richard Gere, which went on to win six Academy Awards in 2003, including Best Picture. However, the movie is actually based on the original 1975 Broadway production with a legendary book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander, and lyrics by Fred Ebb. It features earworm-worthy jazz numbers paired with darkly humorous lyrics, especially in the songs All That Jazz, Cell Block Tango, Razzle Dazzle, and Nowadays.

Currently, CHICAGO The Musical is celebrating 30 years on Broadway, has played more than 11,700 performances, has been seen by over 35 million people worldwide, and has reached 38 countries and more than 525 cities. It's currently the longest-running American musical on Broadway, second only to The Phantom of the Opera.

Tickets to CHICAGO The Musical will officially go on sale on October 19, 2026, via Ticketworld. But if you want to get ahead of everyone else and secure your spot early, UnionBank cardholders can take advantage of a special presale from October 12 to 15.
