Need a Government ID ASAP? These Malls Offer Same-Day Postal ID Release

(SPOT.ph) For most of us, it’s the first adulting hurdle: securing a government ID. The process usually involves a waiting period that ranges from a few days to literal years (looking at you, PhilSys). If you’re in a rush for banking or employment requirements, your options used to be very limited. Now, there’s another fast-track solution: As of April 20, 2026, you can get your Postal ID on the very same day at two malls in Manila.

According to the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost), same-day processing and release of Postal IDs are now available on weekdays at the Government Express Center on the 5th floor of SM City Manila and at the PHLPost Office on the 2nd floor of Robinsons Otis. Fees for same-day applications are slightly higher at P650, while regular applications remain P550.

To qualify for same-day release, submit your requirements within the designated windows: 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Monday to Friday at SM City Manila, and 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Monday to Friday at Robinsons Otis. If you meet the cut-off, you can claim your Postal ID card by 4 p.m. on the same day.

Applications submitted after the cut-off will be processed for next-day release starting at 12 p.m. instead.

The Improved Postal ID is still among the easiest government IDs to acquire for Filipinos and foreign residents who have been living in the Philippines for at least six months. It’s as simple as showing up at any participating PHLPost branch, where you can submit your requirements, pay the fee, and head to the imaging station for your photo, fingerprint, and digital signature capture.

To ensure you make the strict cut-off time at SM City Manila, it’s best to have all your documents ready before heading to the mall. You will need the following requirements:

• Postal ID application form: Submit one accomplished copy, available in all post offices and online.

• Proof of identity: Bring the original and one photocopy of one primary ID (such as a passport or driver’s license) or two secondary IDs (with at least one containing the applicant’s photo and signature).

• Proof of address: Bring the original and one photocopy of a document under your name, such as a Barangay Certificate, bank statement, or utility bill.

Primary IDs include the National ID, driver’s license, passport, UMID, and birth certificate issued within the last six months. If you don’t have any of these, you can submit two secondary IDs, with at least one showing your photo and signature. Common alternatives include the PhilHealth ID, TIN card, NBI Clearance, or a School ID.

Special categories may require additional documents. For instance, minors can apply for a Postal ID, with proof of address in the name of their parent or legal guardian. Married women with IDs still showing their maiden name are required to bring a Marriage Certificate from PSA or the Local Civil Registrar. In addition to a valid passport, foreign residents must show proof of stay, such as an Alien Certificate of Registration (ACR) I-Card, a Long Stay Visitor Visa Extension (LSVVE), or a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV).
