PSA: You Can Buy 1, Get 3 Free Tickets on the LRT and MRT Every Sunday

(SPOT.ph) We’re all for slow Sundays, but if yours usually involve church, mall runs, or finally checking out that café you have bookmarked on TikTok, you might want to take the LRT or MRT with your family or friends. Why? You could be riding for free.

In case you didn’t know, there’s a promo called “Pamilya Pass 1+3 Promo” that lets one paying passenger bring along three companions for free every Sunday across MRT-3, LRT-1, and LRT-2, as long as everyone is headed to the same destination. Despite the name, it’s not limited to blood relatives. Families, barkadas, church groups—if you’re at least two people traveling together, you qualify. You don’t need a full group of four to avail of it, either.

The program runs every Sunday until June 2028, so there’s still plenty of time to take advantage of the promo. No pressure.

Head to the ticket counter first. Buy a Single Journey Ticket (sorry, you can't use your beep card for this one), then tell the staff you're availing of the Pamilya Pass. Staff will then issue up to three companion coupons for those in your group traveling to the same destination. From there, your companions enter through the designated gate with assistance from station personnel.

As for how the program is being sustained until 2028, officials said that no separate budget is needed because it leverages existing operations on days when trains are typically less crowded.

At bakit hanggang June 2028, last Sunday ng June 2028, dahil nais po ng Pangulo na bigyan din po ng karapatan ang susunod na administrasyon kung ano po ang nanaisin nilang programa patungkol po dito, iyan po ay respeto lang po ng Pangulo sa susunod na liderato,'' Castro was quoted as saying.
