Victory Liner Offers Bus Rides Through Bayanihan Arrangement

(SPOT.ph) Fuel prices have surged over 100% over the past month—and for commuters and drivers, there’s little sign of relief.

As transport operators struggle to keep routes running, Victory Liner is introducing the Tatak Bayanihan Shuttle Service Program, a shared-cost setup where a partner company will only be asked to cover the diesel and the daily allowance of the driver and conductor.

Instead of relying on regular routes—some of which have already thinned out—businesses can set up fixed, point-to-point trips for employees, which can be timed around work hours. It’s essentially a private, company-arranged shuttle.

Just a day before announcing the shuttle program, Victory Liner said it had already reduced trip frequency and adjusted intervals because of ongoing fuel crisis.

"We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause, and we sincerely ask for your patience and understanding during this difficult time. These measures are necessary for us to continue operating and serving our passengers sustainably,” Victory Liner said in a recent advisory.

Some operators already have cut back on trips because earnings no longer cover fuel costs, while others are considering suspensions if prices keep rising. For commuters, that shows up as longer queues, packed vehicles, and fewer available rides—something already visible along major corridors like Commonwealth Avenue, where stranded passengers have become a common sight.

All of this is happening alongside another sharp jump in fuel prices this week. After the latest round of increases, diesel in Metro Manila is now roughly P143.80 to P148.60 per liter, while gasoline is at around P99.20 to P100.20 per liter, depending on the brand.
