LCD, New Look + More: Here's Everything We Know About Fujifilm's Instax Pal 2

(SPOT.ph) Fujifilm first introduced the Instax Pal to the world in 2023. It was the first of its kind: a miniature digital camera that fits in the palm of your hand (with more space to spare). Despite this, though, it can store lots of memories, around 50 photos at a time. Fast forward to 2026, almost three years later, Instax Pal gets a new sibling: the Instax Pal 2. It's still the small, cute digital camera that we love, but with added features for more convenience.

Fujifilm's Instax analog instant camera lineup has always made shooting photos and videos more special and fun—just like the memories you want to capture. For the longest time, the Japanese brand made printing instant photos a modern-day reality with built-in printers in their Instax cameras. Just last June, they released the latest iteration of their entry-level cameras, the Instax Mini 13.

While it’s the silhouette and unit most familiar to casual film enjoyers, Instax had more analog and hybrid formats and a variety of prints for every preference. If you’re not the type to bring a bulky device around, then we’ll turn your attention to the Instax Pal 2, which will be available soon.

The major difference from its cousins is that the Instax Pal and the new Instax Pal 2 don’t print photographs on the fly. Instead, users can snap photos that are then stored digitally for later printing via other Instax printers. Compared to the first edition, it's still small—bigger than its predecessor, but it can still fit in your hand and can still be mistaken for a cute bag charm.

There's a major difference in aesthetic. Unlike Instax Pal's circular build and pastel, fun colors, the new Instax Pal 2 looks more rugged and much like the standard analog camera; kind of like a smaller, younger sibling of the Mini Evo, almost. It's available in two colorways only: black and white.

The first Instax Pal has a lens and shutter with a two-in-one loop and stand, but no screen. The Instax Pal 2, however, has an LCD with more controls, like a command dial, shutter button, and lever on each side of the LCD. There's a viewfinder, too. The Instax Pal 2 has a USB Type-C terminal, which allows you to plug it into your phone to transfer your photos faster and more conveniently. But don't worry, wireless transfer is also possible via Bluetooth connection.

For the command controls, the lever is for selecting your preferred shooting format: no frame, square, mini, and wide. The dial, on the other hand, is for effects. You can choose from a total of 30 effects and even adjust resolution.
