Meet Samsung's New Z Fold8 + More of the Latest Flagship Foldables

(SPOT.ph) Tech enthusiasts and avid Samsung users, the time has come again. And by that, we mean the much-anticipated second half of South Korean tech giant Samsung's annual Galaxy Unpacked event, which is always dedicated to introducing its latest line of foldables. For this year, instead of the usual Fold and Flip duo, there's a new addition to the next-generation Galaxy Z Series. There are now three different sizes of foldables: Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Flip8, and the new foldable experience that is the Z Fold8.

Alongside the foldable phones, the recent Unpacked event also gave us the latest on their wearables, which are the Watch Ultra2 and Watch9. Need a rundown on what went down last night? We got you.

Starting with the star of the show: the new Galaxy Z Fold8. It's smaller, almost the same size as a passport or a pocketbook, and more compact (fits comfortably in the palm of your hands and inside your pockets, no less), but wider than it is tall and more immersive when unfolded to its full glory. The new build makes it the first Galaxy Z Fold of its kind, with a 5.5" cover screen and a 7.6" main screen that allows for a more creative way of consuming and enjoying content.

Despite its size and lightweight design (at 201 grams, making it the lightest Galaxy Z Fold yet), the Fold8 is packed with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, which delivers a more powerful performance, and a 4,800mAh battery that delivers more than 26 hours of video playback. It has a 10-megapixel front camera and a 50-megapixel back camera to deliver wide and ultra wide shots.

For the colorways, the Z Fold8 is available in Lavender, Graphite, Cream, and Pistachio as an online Samsung exclusive.

The Z Fold8 Ultra, on the other hand, is the foldable phone Samsung fans know and love, with some improvements, like a bigger 5,000mAh battery—a substantial jump from the 4,400mAh of the Galaxy Z Fold7. It also lasts long but charges fast, thanks to its new, dual-path charging architecture with 45W fast charging. It also offers a 15% brighter display than the Z Fold7, and is slightly slimmer than the 4.2mm of the Galaxy Z Fold7.

Like its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold7, the Z Fold8 Ultra has an 8-inch main display and weighs the same at 215 grams. Both also boast a 200MP wide-angle camera, but in the Fold8 Ultra's case, its Ultra Wide camera got an upgrade, now up at 50MP (from the Fold7's 12MP). It is said to have the best camera system in the foldable series.

Last but not least for the foldable lineup is the Galaxy Z Flip8. Despite having the same main and cover displays as its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip8 is lighter at 180 grams and thinner at 6.1mm when unfolded. Aside from sharing the same 4,300mAh battery life and the 50MP and 12MP wide and ultra-wide cameras, respectively, with its predecessor—the most notable difference of the Galaxy Z Flip8 is going to be its performance. At its core is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, compared to the Flip7's Exynos 2500.

There's also more room for more creative ways to take pictures and videos with your friends with the Z Flip8 courtesy of the Flip Shot feature, which allows you to customize your cover screen backgrounds, as well as Dual Recording, where you can take two different shots at the same time. There will be a split view that will appear on the FlexWindow and main screen for those perfectly synced shots.

It's now available in the softest pink hue, alongside black, cream, and the online exclusive mint colorway.

Both the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9 aim to give you peace of mind when it comes to your health. It supports 24/7 wearability, with the largest battery and brightest display ever, combined with the Snapdragon Wear Elite Platform as their processor. The Ultra2, to be more specific, is equipped with an 800mAh battery, a 35% increase from its predecessor. It's also the world's first smartwatch with 5,000 nits of brightness. No need to squint to see the display even under intense sunlight.
