(SPOT.ph) Given the dire need for more green and open spaces to make our cities more livable, it’s always great news whenever Metro Manila adds one for its communities.
Not long ago, Manila City inaugurated its Senior Citizen and Pet Park in Pandacan, and now Pasig City is adding another revitalized green space to its roster. Say hello to the newly inaugurated Buting Linear Park!
Here’s what we know about this latest addition to the city’s public spaces.
Check out the new Buting Linear Park in Pasig City
Buting Linear Park is a 3,170-square-meter park stretching 485 linear meters. Although the space has been idle for a while, it was redeveloped with structural improvements and new facilities and amenities for Barangay Buting residents and visitors in Pasig City.

The revitalized park now has playground features, painted grounds, landscaping, outdoor exercise equipment, a half-court for basketball, and public restrooms. The park also added lighting, a bike lane, and walkways to improve accessibility and visitor safety.
With these improvements, the park becomes more than just open grounds; it offers more recreational activities and leisure spaces for visitors, especially children and senior citizens. It’s a welcome upgrade from the bare-bones community parks we’re used to seeing around the Metro, giving residents a brighter, more inviting space to unwind and enjoy the outdoors.

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto shared a glimpse of the newly opened park’s developments in a Facebook post, noting that more improvements are still in the works. These include additional landscaping, light posts, signage, and other structures to further enhance the park and make it more inviting for visitors.
Buting Linear Park is among the latest projects built in partnership with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) under the “Green Green Green” program, and funded by the Department of Budget and Management’s Local Government Support Fund. With more of these lively, open spaces planned for major metropolises, we hope they will continue to enliven community life in the years to come.
