Coming Soon: Super Nintendo World Is Opening in Singapore

(SPOT.ph) Your favorite Nintendo characters, Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi, and more, are headed to sunny Singapore!

Super Nintendo World has officially been confirmed as part of the new developments at Sentosa. The Nintendo-themed land is expected to open as part of the Universal Studios Singapore theme park, making it the attraction's fourth location worldwide, and the first in Southeast Asia.

Here's everything we know so far about this upcoming development at the beloved theme park.

Longtime fans of Nintendo classics like Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong, and Yoshi's Island have a new reason to celebrate as a real-life Nintendo-themed world is officially headed to Universal Studios Singapore.

The long-awaited attraction was confirmed as part of the Singapore government's newly unveiled Greater Sentosa Master Plan—a sweeping, long-term blueprint that aims to transform Sentosa and the 120-hectare Pulau Brani in Keppel Harbour into a world-class leisure and tourism destination over the next two decades.

"Guests can also look forward to discovering more upcoming experiences at Resorts World Sentosa. These include the landmark Waterfront Lifestyle Development, scheduled for completion in 2030; and immersive SUPER NINTENDO WORLD^TM at Universal Studios Singapore," a statement unveiling the Greater Sentos Master Plan reads.

Beyond confirming that the project is officially in the works, however, details such as its expected opening date and the rides and attractions that will be part of the Nintendo-themed area remain under wraps.

Still, if the existing Super Nintendo Worlds are any indication, it’s not too difficult to imagine what might be in store. Like the lands at Universal Studios Japan (Osaka), Universal Studios Hollywood (California), and Universal Epic Universe (Orlando), Singapore’s version could feature an entire section of the park transformed into the Mushroom Kingdom, complete with giant green warp pipes, colorful question blocks, spinning coins, and other iconic Nintendo elements that’ll make you feel like you’ve stepped straight into the world of Mario and the gang.

Super Nintendo World in Japan and the US also has rides for all ages. Families can hop aboard the kid-friendly Yoshi’s Adventure, a leisurely ride through the Mushroom Kingdom, while those looking for more action can race through Mario Kart: Koopa's Challenge, an immersive AR-powered kart experience. There's also Donkey Kong Country's Mine Cart Madness, the area's token rollercoaster experience that has consistently drawn large crowds of thrill-seekers and theme park enthusiasts.

These, of course, come alongside a plethora of merchandise shops, themed restaurants, photo spots, and other activities that further sell the idea of being in-game, IRL.

While these core elements are shared across every Super Nintendo World, each park puts its own spin on the experience through different layouts, attractions, and interactive offerings. Who knows? Singapore might even debut a few Super Nintendo firsts of its own. For now, though, all we can do is speculate based on what’s already out there. But it's not just Universal Studios Singapore that's getting a massive update. The entire island of Sentosa is set to undergo major developments as it integrates the Brani area to create more spaces for hotels, attractions, and experiences. The Greater Sentosa Master Plan (GSMP) is set to put these "upgrades" into motion until well into the 2030s.

Expect plenty of new landmarks to rise across Sentosa in the coming years. Among them are the Imbiah Lookout Walk and Imbiah Canopy, which will immerse visitors in the lush natural beauty of Mount Imbiah. Along the coast, the upcoming Sensorium lifestyle hub is set to house a mix of retail, dining, and entertainment experiences, while the island’s beach coves will also undergo a refresh to offer more inviting seaside escapes. Getting around is expected to become easier, too, with the introduction of water taxis and a new People Mover System, which will eventually replace the iconic Sentosa Express.

If you’re looking for a glimpse of what the GSMP is ultimately trying to achieve, look no further than Sentosa Sensoryscape. More than just a 350-meter green connector linking Resorts World Sentosa to the island’s beaches, it also marks the master plan’s first major milestone.

In many ways, it serves as a blueprint for the GSMP’s long-term vision: "an integrated planning approach shaped by environmental studies and consultations with nature groups to create climate-resilient spaces, strengthen ecological connectivity, and thoughtfully weave new attractions into Sentosa’s existing ridgelines, greenery, coastlines, and heritage."
