LOOK: A New Dog Park + A Multi-Purpose Field Are Now Open at Quezon Memorial Circle
The new spaces are part of ongoing developments in the park.

(SPOT.ph) We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Metro Manila could use more third spaces, open grounds, and parks where everyone can gather and relax without breaking the bank. Fortunately, Quezon City understands the assignment as two new public spaces recently opened at the Quezon Memorial Circle (QMC).
The park is already known for being one of the few green, open spaces in Quezon City. With the opening of a new multi-purpose open field and a dog park, QMC is set to accommodate more events and activities for a wide range of visitors. Here’s what we know so far.

On July 25, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte led the inauguration of the two new spaces at the Quezon Memorial Circle. The projects, according to the Quezon City Government’s announcement, are part of the LGU’s efforts to make QMC pet-friendly and encourage residents and visitors to make use of the city’s public spaces.
More than just an open space for furbabies to run around and hang out with their owners, the dog park features play areas and obstacles, including open tunnels, ramps, and A-frames. Now, that sounds like a howling good time for playful and active furbabies!
Of course, to help keep the space clean and tidy, there are also litter bins for disposing of trash and picking up after pets. Furparents can also relax and keep an eye out for their furbabies on the benches around the dog park.
Quezon Memorial Circle adds a new sprawling space
Aside from the dog park, a new multi-purpose open field right next to it was also opened on the same day. Spanning 12,000 square meters, this open space is where citizens and visitors can hang out, engage in sports and recreational activities, and hold various community events. It's the perfect spot for picnics, Zumba sessions, quick runs, and catching up on your latest reads while enjoying the outdoors.
The open field also has a walking path with lampposts and CCTV cameras, so visitors can enjoy safe, well-lit strolls come sundown. It also offers scenic views of the pylons towering over the QMC, a pond, and an amphitheater at the center. We can totally imagine the green open space coming alive with a variety of activities.
Further developments planned for the space include a retention pond and detention tank, which will address potential flooding during the rainy season. The water collected by these facilities will be used for other projects within QMC, making it a truly green and sustainable attraction.
These developments follow the LGU’s recent efforts to revitalize QMC, including Bambike rentals and tours, its first-ever skate park, new public tennis courts, and the city’s very own explorer passport.
