PSA: Travel Tax Is Now Required for the eTravel
Take note for your next trip abroad.

(SPOT.ph) Heads up, travel bugs: Travel tax payment is now a requirement before you can complete your eTravel forms.
This extra step consolidates all airport processes into one location before you can fly. Here's what you need to know to ensure a seamless travel experience starting this month.
Travel tax is now part of the eTravel requirements
While it's no secret that paying the travel tax—amounting to P1,620—is a prerequisite to flying, somehow there's always that one passenger holding up the check-in lane because they haven't done so. Sure, you can pay online or include it when you pay for your flight ticket, but without a reminder to pay or check if you have, it's easy to miss—that is, until now.
The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority, a.k.a. TIEZA—the government agency tasked with collecting the travel tax—just announced that it is now fully integrated into the eGovPH Super App and eTravel System. This means that you can pay for your travel tax within the eGovPH app interface, making payments more secure and streamlined—no more searching for which site to pay on or long airport payment counter lines.

Apart from the payment facility on the app, there's now a travel tax declaration feature when you apply for the eTravel System, meaning there's no excuse for you to forget about paying the fees before heading to the airport. It's a paperless way to ensure all travelers make their payment before checking in or passing through immigration. Without having fully paid your travel tax, you won't be able to proceed with generating your eTravel QR code.

This integration has been a long time coming. It's a collaboration between the Department of Tourism (DOT), TIEZA, and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), first announced in July, and deployed to the app and web browsers in late August.
How to pay your travel tax through the eGovPH Super App:
While most young travelers would find the new process quite intuitive—it is, after all, just a few taps or clicks here and there. But we do recognize it can still be quite daunting for newbies or travelers more set in the manual processes of old. Not to worry, we've compiled this guide on maximizing the new integration in the eGovPH Super App.
Step 1: Download and open the eGov PH App on Google Play or the App Store.

Step 2: For first-time users, register using any valid government ID. If you already have an account, you can simply log in.
Step 3: Go to NGAs> TIEZA Services. Tap TIEZA Travel Tax.

Step 4: Fill out the passenger and trip details necessary. Pro tip: have your ticket or flight itinerary on-hand to ensure you provide the correct details. It has to match the information you will input for your eTravel form.

Step 4: Pay and get your digital receipt. You can use GCash, Maya or any credit/debit card.
For those who fill out their eTravel forms online, you can continue to do so. You'll still receive the tax declaration prompt, but you won't be able to pay for the fees on the same page. You’ll need to pay through the TIEZA website, which is an additional browser window. It’s not really that much of a hassle, but if you can do it all in one platform, why not, right?
