It's Official: Taiwan Extends Visa-Free Travel For Pinoys Until 2027

(SPOT.ph) After weeks of speculation, unofficial announcements, and plenty of anxiety among travelers with Taiwan trips planned for the latter half of 2026, Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has finally made it official: Filipino passport holders can continue to enjoy visa-free travel to Taiwan until July 31, 2027.
If you’ve been holding off on booking your trip while waiting for confirmation, consider this your sign to finally make those travel plans a reality. Go ahead and share the good news with your travel group chat, lock in those flights, and start building your itinerary.
Here’s everything you need to know about the extension of Taiwan’s visa-free entry program for Filipino passport holders.
Taiwan extends visa-free travel for Filipino passport holders until 2027
"Starting August 1, 2026, Philippine passport holders may enter Taiwan visa-free for up to 14 days, effective until July 31, 2027," reads the official announcement on the Taiwan in the Philippines official social media pages. The original visa-free policy was originally set to expire by July 31, 2026, but it looks like we've got another year of stress-free trips to the land of bubble tea and xiao long bao.
Taiwan first opened its doors to visa-free travel for Filipinos back in November 2017—and since then, we’ve been getting yearly extensions like clockwork.
"The move comes in reciprocity for the visa-free privileges the Philippines has extended to Taiwan nationals," the announcement further reads.
Taiwanese citizens can also enter the Philippines visa-free
Earlier in the month, the Philippines first extended its visa-free policy for Taiwanese passport holders for another year. Under the travel policy, Taiwan passport holders can also stay in the Philippines without a visa for up to 14 days.
Under this regulation, Taiwanese tourists only need to present a passport valid for at least six months, a confirmed accommodation booking, proof of financial capacity, and a return or onward ticket to the next country of destination—the very same requirements Filipinos need to meet when visiting Taiwan.
