Mark Your Calendars: Frozen: The Broadway Musical Is Coming Next Year

(SPOT.ph) We’re not ready to let go of the Frozen magic just yet. While Disney fans everywhere are already rejoicing over the D23: Disney Ultimate Fan Event announcement of a new Frozen movie, fans in Manila have another reason to celebrate: We’re getting another summer snow day—this time on stage!

Mark your calendars: Frozen: The Broadway Musical is coming to Manila in 2027. 9Works Theatrical, the folks behind productions like The Bodyguard, On Your Feet!, and A Christmas Carol, just dropped the announcement trailer on its social media pages, officially giving us something new to belt about.

For the first time in forever, Frozen: The Broadway Musical will debut on the Manila stage in April 2027 at the Proscenium Theater in Rockwell, Makati, for a strictly limited engagement.

Frozen: The Broadway Musical follows the story of the first Frozen film released in 2013, which sees the relationship between sisters Elsa and Anna tested when Elsa’s icy powers accidentally plunge their kingdom into an eternal winter, sending her into self-imposed exile. The musical was originally produced by Disney Theatrical Productions in 2018 with music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, and a book by Jennifer Lee.

Fans of the franchise can expect the flick's earworm-inducing soundtrack—including Let It Go, Do You Wanna Build A Snowman, Love Is An Open Door, and many more—to get the full musical-theater treatment. The stage musical builds on the iconic OST and adds 12 new tracks written especially for the stage, such as What Do You Know About Love? I Can't Lose You, Monster, and more.

We know you’re already dying to find out who will take on the roles of Elsa, Anna, and—let’s be honest—especially Olaf. But as of writing, 9 Works Theatrical has yet to reveal any casting details. But 9 Works did mention that auditions will be rolled out to fill the roles, and hopefuls won’t have to search far for audition news, either. Announcements on auditions and casting will be posted on 9 Works Theatrical’s social media accounts.

With no shortage of talented thespians who could bring these beloved characters to life, it’s safe to say the Manila chapter of Arendelle is in good hands, whoever gets the part. Don’t worry, Spotters—we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for all the deets about Frozen: The Broadway Musical's Manila debut.
