TV host Kris Aquino told The Buzz on August 1 that she and husband basketball player James Yap "stopped loving each other a long time ago," reports GMANews.tv. "Masyado kaming maraming pagkakaiba sa personalidad na umabot sa point na I'm sure James wants to be James, I want to be Kris," she added, according to ABS-CBNNews.com.

Aquino pinpointed the exact date she claimed to stop loving Yap: April 26, 2010. "May nasabi siya sa anak ko [Baby James], which I will forever keep between the two of us  Nasaktan talaga ako. At nagpatunay talaga sa akin na this is not the man for me, this is not the man I want to stay with because dinadamay niya ang three years old na bata na dapat protektahan naming dalawa."

At the time, the campaign for the May 10 elections was still ongoing, and her brother Noynoy was a presidential candidate. Aquino did not end the marriage because she said her marital status "could have been used against [her] brother."

Aquino also insisted she was loyal to Yap throughout their five-year marriage and claimed he was "obviously" not. She said they had never resolved Yap's rumored affair with Hope Centeno, a receptionist at the Belo Medical Clinic, for which Aquino is a returning endorser. "I used to question, 'Bakit kinailangan mambabae?' Ngayon, nare-realize ko kasi nga siguro minsan kailangan mong maramdaman na ikaw ang hari."

In an interview with SNN aired on July 31, Aquino denied rumors linking her to Makati Mayor and vice presidential son Junjun Binay, reports PEP.ph. Calling him her best friend, she said, "He knows and I know that now is not the right time." Next year, if her siblings and sons would be comfortable with her dating again, if her new show Pilipinas, Win na Win! would be doing well, and if she herself would be okay, Aquino said she would say yes to a dinner date with Binay. "Why? Dahil alam ko na hindi niya ako lolokohin."
