Spot.ph scoured the malls for easy, ready-to-wear outfits for spooking in style.
Whether you didn't have time to drop by novelty costume shops or go scavenger hunting at Ukay and Divi, fear not-the perfect costume is out there and it's not too far away. SPOT.ph scoured the malls for last-minute, ready-to-wear costume ideas for when you need something to wear now, and fast.
1. National Bookstore
Come as: devil, punk rocker, grim reaper
National Bookstore can be one of your best bets for key costume pieces if you're: one, on a budget and two, if you're too lazy to think of a costume. It’s hard to go wrong with an all-black outfit and a ghastly mask (P480) if you don’t feel like getting creative. Or, pair your best goth garb with a neon-colored wig (P67) and come as a punk rocker. Hey, at least you tried right?
2. La Senza
Come As: sexy/scary vamp
Here’s an idea that’s less trick and more treat. Halloween is possibly the only occasion when it’s deemed acceptable to party in extra racy outfits without being judged...too much. La Senza’s lacy lingerie (from P2495) channel everything from cheeky pin-up girl to sexy vixen. Seize the opportunity to go good-girl-gone-bad.
3. SM Department Store
Come as: Porn star, Imelda Marcos
SM Department store offers a wide variety of synthetic wigs (from P1500) and hair extensions for the perfect pornstar hair do. If you’re on a budget, drop by their lingerie section--they have one of the most affordable sexy sleepwear (from P399) in town. Or, head to SM’s extensive Filipiniana section and see rack after rack of traditional baro’t saya ternos worthy of Imelda Marcos’ look. Also, never underestimate the children's section--the largest size usually fits adults.
4. Team Pacquiao
Come as: The Pacman
Never mind that you don't have his pecs or abs. It’s easy to dress up as the Pacman this Halloween with boxing shorts (P760) and black Manny gloves (P1136) from Team Pacquiao. Plus, this Manny get up is for keeps--you're not throwing these collector's items away after the party. Check out Team Pacquiao branches at Robinson’s Place Ermita and Robinson’s Galleria.
5. Weekend Warrior
Come as: G.I. Joe
Weekend Warrior has the full outfit ready for a G.I. Joe costume. Get a fatigue jacket for P2400, helmet for P3200, and grungy combat boots for P2600. This is ideal for paintball addicts and airsoft players who can still make use of the sporting gear post-Halloween. Check out Weekend Warrior’s stall in Robinson’s Galleria.
Come as: Glee’s pantsuit-wearing Sue Sylvester
Sue Sylvester rocks a head-to-toe Adidas pantsuit as coach of the Cheerios on the hit TV show Glee. McKinley High’s infamously sharp-tongued teacher is most often seen wearing matchy-matchy active wear, clipboard in hand. Pair these Adidas jackets with the same-colored jogging pants and the only thing you’ll need to get creative with are the witty insults.
Come as: masquerade ball party-goer
When all else fails, wearing a nice mask usually does the trick. Plus, it usually goes with whatever you’re wearing. Perfect for those who want to get into the spirit of the occasion but don't really want to dress up, Rustan's fancy Venetian-sinspired masks go from P98 to P350 a piece. You might even make cool home decor out of them after the party.
8. Forever 21
Come as: Catholic schoolgirl, boho chick, 80s pop star, or cowgirl
Forever 21 is a good go-to shop for trendly clothes that can inspire costume ideas. This retail giant is perfect for those who don’t want to get too crazy with costumes, and only want stylish pieces they can use anytime. Dig through the clothes racks and create your own boho chick or Catholic schoolgirl get up--the possibilities can beendless if you’re willing to spend some time to think about what you can pull off.
Come as: Lady Gaga, Madonna, Avril Lavigne
Y.R.Y.S.’s trademark outlandish style can make you a makeshift Lady Gaga, Avril Lavigne, or Madonna costume with the right pieces. Get creative with bustier tops, short skirts, and flashy accessories. The store also sells masks for P350 and wigs for P1500.
Come as: your favorite UAAP athlete
Pay tribute to your alumni's basketball heroes this Halloween. Nike sells a variety of school-themed basketball jerseys (P1895), shirts, and jackets for Blue Eagles and FEU Tamaraws fans.
