Virtual Art Gallery: Exhibits at Blanc, Silverlens, Manila Contemporary + more

At the Blanc Gallery in Makati, lose yourself in the engkanto-inspired The Possessed by Guillermo Naval. Over at Blanc Peninsula Manila, Nikki Luna showcases wrapped gifts that are "artifacts of withdrawn affections" in the exhibit Present Superstition. Take a look at Mark Andy Garcia’s emotional turmoil in For Dear Life, 50 oil drawings inspired by personal tragedies such as the death of his father, at the Blanc Compound in Mandaluyong.

Meanwhile, Manila Contemporary hosts Love Letters, an exhibit on the languages of love culled from the personal and imagined experiences of Catalina Africa, Lui Medina, Maria Jeona and more artists. Love Letters runs until March 27 at Whitespace in Makati.

At the Nova Gallery in Makati, view Roy Veneracion’s first solo show in the Philippines, The Essentiality of Polystyle Syncretism to a Multiple Personality Post-Modern in the 21st Century. Up until March 11, the exhibit features "scroll-type or tapestry paintings" and "cluster paintings," which are combinations of several pieces.

Pablo showcases Passage, Tad Ermitaño’s crossover of fairy tales and science fiction, at their Taguig gallery. Meanwhile, Puerta, Mitch Mauricio’s black and white portraits of the Filipina sexuality, is on exhibit at Pablo Cubao Expo. Both exhibits run until March 19.

Over at Ricco Renzo, check out the painting exhibition of Julius Legaspi and Buhay Mendoza entitled Nostalgia, which runs until March 5.

The Silverlens Gallery in Makati features the first two-man show of Poklong Anading and Gary Ross Pastrana entitled Between Signs. Through photographs, mixed media installations and video presentations, the two artists "weave separate paths cut from the same cloth." Meanwhile, SLab presents Mariano Ching’s Even Bad Days are Good, vibrant portraits of human-like beings, and Dexter Fernandez’ m/, an "anti-norm" take on worshipping and icons. All three shows run until March 19.

At West Gallery in Quezon City until February 26, check out Manuel Ocampo’s abstract paintings in the exhibit Boycotter of Beauty and the Theoretical Steroid Defiled Modernist Chicken, inspired by French artist Francis Picabia’s collection of writings I Am a Beautiful Monster. Complementing the exhibit are Ocampo’s collaborative works with Nemo Aguila, Bjorn Calleja, Rommel Celespara and more.
