(SPOT.ph) Virgin Labfest’s signature brand of provocative and out-of-the-box one-act plays-untried, untested, unpublished and unstaged-will take over the Cultural Center of the Philippine’s Tanghalang Huseng Batute (Studio Theater) from June 29 to July 10.
Out of the 105 submissions, 10 plays made it to Virgin Labfest 7: The Valley Mission Care by Russell Legaspi; Bawal Tumawid, Nakamamatay by Joey Paras; Mga Lobo Tulad ng Buwan by Pat Valera; Kinaumagahan by Rachelle Rodriguez and Wennielyn Fajilan; Requiem by Juan Ekis; Isang Gabi Bago Magbukas ang "Portrait of an Artist as Filipino" ni Nick Joaquin (full-length play) by Carlo Pacolor; Evening at the Opera by Floy Quintos; Streetlight Manifesto by Mixkaela Villalon; Kawala by Rae Red; and Kafatiran by Dingdong Novenario.

Three plays from last year’s Virgin Labfest will also be restaged-Higit pa Dito by Allan Lopez; Ondoy by Remi Velasco; and Balunbalunan, Bingibingihan by Debbie Ann Tan. Plus, staged readings of full-length works like Chiaroscuro by Lito Casaje (July 1, 6 p.m.), House of Candles by Nick Pichay (July 7, 6 p.m.), and Hermano Puli by Layeta Bucoy (July 9, 6 p.m.) will take place at CCP’s Bulwagang Amado Hernandez (Conference Room).
