(SPOT.ph) The Ortigas hotspot for sipping and swirling, The Winebar at Cafe 1771 in El Pueblo, has expanded their menu to include oysters, Angus beef burgers, and steaks to pair with their 300-bottle wine selection, going beyond the usual assortment of cheeses, tapas, and crostinis.
When The Winebar opened in July 2010, their menu choices were mostly picks from The Lounge and Whimsy, the other dining concepts of Café 1771 located on the ground floor. Now, the swanky bar with a gentleman’s lounge vibe-replete with comfy leather couches and seats, chandeliers, and vaulted wood alcoves-gets its own menu courtesy of Café 1771’s chef Vicky Rose Pacheco. Start off with tapas such as the Prawns and Chorizo in Garlic Oil (P600), with succulent seafood and crispy-spicy chorizo nubs, and then get a plateful of Oysters Rockefeller (P500; 8 pieces) which flaunts creamy spinach flavors mingling with melted butter.
Want something a bit heartier? Try the new specialties of the house: the WineBar Angus burgers (starting at P410) feature bone marrow spread on freshly baked brioche buns instead of mayonnaise, with fries and a side of bone marrow. Other specials include the Porchetta (P570)-pork belly stuffed with herbs, served on Thursday nights-and their Mussels in a Bowl (P350) with Roxas mussels cooked in a pool of semi-spicy Thai-inspired coconut gravy, available on Friday nights.
Desserts are just as delicious: take a taste of Café 1771’s best-selling Coffee Pie with light cocoa flavors in its chocolate-cashew crust, cream cheese topping and toffee sauce.
