(SPOT.ph) The drawn-out contention between two of the country's top universities has become fuel to a highly original musical created by local theater bigwigs. Written and produced by Ed Gatchalian, with lyrics by Joel Trinidad, and helmed by Jaime del Mundo, Rivalry: Ateneo-La Salle The Musical is a story set in 1968 and revolves around two families-a family of Ateneans and a family of La Sallians. The plot thickens as two young men-one from each family-vie for the affections of a girl from an exclusive girls' school.
Though the musical's theme comes with an instant fan base (from die-hard Eagles and Archers to the simply intrigued), Gatchalian believes everyone can relate with the story. "Rivalry may be about the fabled feud between La Salle and Ateneo... But such competition and the excitement it generates is actually a universal theme which could involve opposing organizations," he said.
How the feud became a musical.
