Manila FAME 2013 puts spotlight on new designers
Rising young designers mentored by Budji Layug and Kenneth Cobonpue launch their latest collections at the trade show.
(SPOT.ph) As a trade platform for designers and exporters, Manila FAME’s October 2013 edition presents a new collection of products that combine traditional craftsmanship and modern aesthetics. These products are showcased through a number of curated programs and displays.
DesignPH, a select group of exporters who were mentored by Budji Layug and Kenneth Cobonpue, will be presenting their latest collection. Also under the direction of Budji Layug, the Red Box program gives young designers and artists the opportunity to collaborate with manufacturers in developing exciting new products.
Locally made products
Meanwhile, Manila Wear is a branding initiative that aims to position the local fashion industry into the resort wear market. Complementing this is NeoTextiles Philippines, a display of fabrics and textile-based products made by local weaving communities. Manila FAME also serves as a springboard for homegrown apparel brands with its Top Brands in Motion program. Lastly, skilled craftsmen will provide demonstrations of traditional crafting techniques used in the making of paper and abaca bags.

Manila FAME will be held at the SMX Convention Center from October 17 to 20, 2013.
