Juan Luna painting, first-edition Noli Me Tangere up for bidding at The Well-Appointed Life: An Auction Weekend

Works by Amorsolo, Manansala, and Joya are also to be offered

(SPOT.ph) A long-lost painting by 19th Century Filipino artist Juan Luna and a first edition of Jose Rizal’s Noli Me Tangere are among the 300 lots that will be available to bidders at The Well-Appointed Life: An Auction Weekend, to be hosted by Salcedo Auctions on September 20 and 21 at Rockwell Tent in Makati.

"Esope, d’après Velasquez"

The Luna painting, entitled "Esope, d’après Velasquez," was among those acquired by a Swiss collector from a gallery in Zurich in the 1960s and is a version of Diego Velázquez's "Esopo." The attribution came about when a photo was discovered in the archives of New York's Frick Museum showing the artist at his Paris studio sometime around 1885 to 1890, surrounded by several pieces of artwork.
