Museum Day 2015 Celebrations in Manila

Free entrance, film screenings, and a whole lot of art

 

(SPOT.ph) May 18 is International Museum Day and some of the best museums in Manila are participating. Soak up sun and art on May 17 to 18. Check out these fancy festivities:

 

 

Ayala Museum

Free admission on May 17

The museum will also offer several activities like painting your own pot and you can sample local goods (chocolate and coffee!) for free. They're also offering discounts at the Museum Shop. Don't forget to check out Art and the Order of Nature in Indigenous Philippine Textiles and Imagining Batanes. You can also check out Open Space, where Toym Imao's 12-foot sculpture is free for everyone to see. 

 

The Ayala Museum is at Makati Avenue corner De La Rosa Street, Greenbelt Park, Makati City.

 

 

Metropolitan Museum of Manila

Free admission on May 18

The celebration starts on May 16 with the screening of Ang Walang Hanggang Buhay ni Leonard Co and A Tale of Two Forests at METLab (2 p.m.), which is followed by an open forum with the film's cast and crew. On May 18, MET will waive the admission fee, so check out Precolonial Gold and Potter Collection, The Philippine Contemporary: To Scale the Past and the Possible and the their newest exhibitions, Contemporary Transnational Journeys and Liaisons and Hibiscus Hybrids and Outstanding Filipina Achievers. Guided tour starts at 11 a.m.

 

The MET is at Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Complex, Roxas Boulevard, Malate, Manila.

 

 

Yuchengco Museum

Free admission on May 18

Yuchengco opens its doors for free—and you can check out all the exhibits and galleries. Go nuts!

 

The Yuchengco Museum is at RCBC Plaza corner Ayala and Senator Gil J. Puyat Avenues, Makati City.

 

 

The Lopez Museum and Library

Free admission on May 18

You can check out Frames of Reference and Propaganda for free, and at 3 p.m., Ateneo's Blue Symphony will play a bit of music for visitors. Hourly scheduled tours are also available. 

 

The Lopez Museum and Library is at  G/F Benpres Building, Exchange Road, Pasig City.

 

Don't forget that the National Museum is also waiving its admission fee for the rest of May in celebration of National Heritage Month.
