Ballet Philippines is transforming Gabriel Barredo's Opera into dance

Color us excited!

( We're still giddy about the masterful execution of Opera in Silverlens, the exhibit featuring the inner workings of Gabriel Barredo's mind, but we have to start moving make room for more feelings now that it's being adapted. From visual to performance, the thesis behind Opera will be transfigured into contemporary ballet. Opera: A Rebirth in Arabesque is something to look forward to in 2016

We can't quite imagine how Ballet Philippines will perform the surrealist installations, but if they can make Apolinario Mabini dance, adding (more) motion to Barredo's art is a challenge they can accept. Working on the project are Redha Benteifour and BP’s resident choreographer Alden Lugnasin, from a libretto by Erwin Romulo and Yvette Tan, and featuring original music by Malek Lopez

There's a bit of hesitation mixed with the excitement, but the promise of another glimpse of Barredo's work is an opportunity that art patrons shouldn't miss.
