Lady Luck favors the brave

(SPOT.ph) Exposing your beloved written work to criticism may not sound fun, but how else could you get better as a writer? If you're up to the challenge, the Silliman University National Writers Workshop is accepting submissions until September 30. The oldest and longest literary workshop in the country will go on its 55th run from May 9 to 27, 2016 at the Siliman University Rose Lamb Sobrepeña Writers Village.

Launched in 1965 by National Artist for Literature Edith Tiempo and her prolific and esteemed writer husband Edilberto Tiempo, the workshop has among its fellows National Artists Virgilio Almario (a.k.a. Rio Alma) and Salvador Bernal. This year, they are offering 12 spots in this prestigious meeting of minds to writers in the following categories:

Fiction
Creative Non-Fiction
Poetry
One-Act Drama

Submissions should also include:
1. The official application form
2. A notarized certification of originality of work
3. A letter of recommendation from a literature professor or an established writer
