Anton Mallari reimagines Luna's "Spoliarium," Munch's "The Scream," and more at Blanc Gallery
The exhibit runs until August 29.
(SPOT.ph) What has moved you? Everyone has their own "Mona Lisa"—that piece of art that has compelled one to do something, to be something. In his latest exhibition at Blanc Gallery entitled Back:Track, artist Anton Mallari pays homage to the works of art that have inspired him to be the kind of artist he is now. He does his own take on iconic works while hinting at their personal relevance.
These timeless images, hailing from the Italian Renaissance to German Expressionism, shows Mallari’s scope and spectrum of influences. The exhibit is headlined by “Bukas Iba Na” which references a number of local and foreign masterpieces, including Juan Luna’s "Spoliarium," Fernando Amorsolo’s "The Burning of Manila," Edvard Munch’s "The Scream."
Back:Track runs until August 29 at Blanc Gallery, Katipunan Avenue, Barangay St. Ignatius, Quezon City. For more information, visit Blanc Gallery’s website.
