Leeroy New's interactive lights and sounds installation is like nothing you've ever seen
Light up your holiday season with gigantic corals at SM Aura Premier.
(SPOT.ph) Not only Christmas lights twinkle in Taguig. Contemporary Filipino artist Leeroy New has partnered with SM Aura Premier for the mesmerizing interactive sculpture installation of “Astreopora.” When you get tired from Christmas shopping, go up the SM Aura Sky Park Lawn to witness the marvelous lights and sounds installation that will light up in 30-minute intervals from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. until January 10, 2016.

According to New, the installation is a larger production of a performance space and sculptural installation he created in Boracay, which was inspired by the ocean. He told SPOT.ph, “I always want to expand ideas I’ve already done. For this, we decided to make it bigger." And big, it is!
Look at those halo-halo cups!
Those are plastic strainers!
Although far from the red and white Christmas palette and theme, “Astreopora” does not fail to celebrate the holiday season. Alternative and rock-and-roll Christmas songs play in the background, directed by musician Diego Mapa together with Katsch Catoy for the lights. It’s hard to believe that the whole installation is actually composed of tacky plastic household items sourced from Divisoria—now that’s art!
“Astreopora” is on view at SM Aura Sky Park Lawn, SM Aura Premier, McKinley Parkway, Taguig City from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. until January 10, 2016.
