(SPOT.ph) Featuring over 120 masterpieces by Vincent Van Gogh, and with a plot based on hundreds of letters penned by the artist, Loving Vincent chronicles the highlights of the artist’s life as well as the people closest to his heart. But the shocker is the frames in the film are actually composed of oil paintings, all meticulously hand-painted in Van Gogh’s own unique style. All in all, there will be 56,800 frames done by 30 painters in patented work stations. A monumental project that requires the skills and creativity of a number of people, the movie is claimed to be the first fully painted feature film in the world.

And more talented people are exactly what they need. Interested applicants will go through a rigorous process, such as three-day tests conducted in in Poland, as well as a 180-hour course in painting Van Gogh-style. Once considered fit for the job, successful applicants continue to the next round: The final six months of production!

Loving Vincent is directed by Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman of the Oscar-winning Peter and the Wolf fame. The movie is produced by Breakthru Films and Trademark Films.
