Come From Away Is Coming to the Manila Stage

(SPOT.ph) After weeks of teasing the public on their 2025 lineup, GMG Productions—the folks who brought to our shores Miss Saigon, SIX, The Musical, and other international productions—just announced their first show for the year, and it's Come From Away. 

Theater kids, prepare your wallets. Come From Away Manila will perform at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater from June 6 to 29 this year for a strictly limited season. Check out everything we know so far about the upcoming musical.

Here's what we know about the upcoming production of Come From Away in Manila:

For the uninitiated, Come From Away is set in the aftermath of 9/11. It tells the remarkable true story of 7,000 airline passengers unexpectedly grounded in Gander, Newfoundland, and the extraordinary generosity of the town’s residents to take them in during those hard times. 

Despite the original story being set far away in America, this production of Come From Away will actually be Filipino-led—a first for GMG Productions.

The play will star an all-star, who's who of the Philippine theater scene including  Cathy Azanza-Dy, Caisa Borromeo, Garrett Bolden, Mikkie Bradshaw-Volante, Becca Coates, Steven Cadd, Mayen Cadd, Rycharde Everly, Topper Fabregas, Sheila Francisco, Carla Guevara-Laforteza, Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, Gian Magdangal, George Schulze, and Chino Veguillas. 

Joining them are Delphine Buencamino on Choreography, Harry Tabner for Lighting Design), Luke Swaffield for Sound Design, Kayla Teodoro for Production Design, Myrene Santos for Hair and Makeup Design, and Hershee Tatiado on Costume Design, along with Joel Goldes, the original Broadway dialect coach for Come From Away. This powerhouse creative team merges Filipino and West End expertise, staying true to the show’s essence while weaving in a distinct Filipino touch.

Debuting on Broadway in 2013, Come From Away quickly earned praise for its deeply moving storytelling, powerful score, and celebration of kindness and generosity. The production racked up numerous accolades, including a Tony Award for Best Direction and a nomination for Best Musical. Across the Atlantic, it dominated the Olivier Awards, winning Best New Musical, Best Theatre Choreography, Best Sound Design, and Outstanding Achievement in Music. It also took home Drama Desk Awards for Outstanding Musical and Outstanding Book of a Musical.

How to get tickets to Come From Away Manila 2025:

Tickets to Come From Away Manila will be officially available to the public on February 22 through TicketWorld. But if you can't wait to reserve your seats, UnionBank of the Philippines cardholders can take advantage of a special pre-sale from February 18 to 21. Ticket prices start at P900.
