Catch Bawat Bonggang Bagay Live Again This June

(SPOT.ph)  Lauded for its very real yet sensitive approach to mental health, life, and everything in between, Bawat Bonggang Bagay (BBB) is making a much-welcome comeback to the stage for a limited run at the Power Mac Spotlight Black Box Theater in Circuit Makati from June 14 to 22—just in time for Pride Month. 

The staging welcomes back veteran actor, comedian, and impersonator Jon Santos as the lone star of the show, alongside Gawad Buhay Award-winning director Jenny Jamora. Together, they're expected to tackle unspoken truths about depression, especially within the LGBTQIA+ community, but with a lot of humor, heart, and hope.

What is Bawat Bonggang Bagay all about?

Originally staged in 2023 as part of Sandbox Fest 2023, Bawat Bonggang Bagay is award-winning playwright Guelan Luarca's Filipino adaptation of Every Brilliant Thing by Duncan MacMillan and Johnny Donahoe.

Just like its English source material, Bawat Bonggang Bagay is a 90-minute, one-man play that takes audiences to the world of a child who starts listing down every brilliant thing that makes life worth living—in an effort to cope with his mother's struggles with depression. It is narrated by the child's grown-up version, who spends decades updating the list with items as simple as the halo-halo of his youth to more complex ones, reflecting the changes and struggles the narrator goes through. 

Aside from the poignant plot, another thing to look forward to is the part where the Bawat Bonggang Bagay main character interacts with the audience. He plucks a random member of the audience to perform key roles in the story, in real time, further adding to the rich and nuanced storytelling. With this key feature, the lead (in this case, Santos) not only has to mind his own performance but must also build rapport with his newfound castmate to make their moment work. But if the previous shows are any indication, this is the challenge where Santos truly shines.

Where to get tickets to Bawat Bonggang Bagay?

The show is only returning for a quick two-weekend run, and believe us when we say you wouldn't want to miss this. Tickets to the show are now available online through Ticketworld. Tickets start at P1,595 and go as high as P2,128.
