Ampalaya Monologues celebrates hugot anniversary
Don't forget to bring a box of tissues.
(SPOT.ph) In celebration of one whole year of hugot, artistic bitterness, and feels-fests, Ampalaya Monologues takes on the PETA stage on October 15 with the theme and hashtag #TeamAmpalaya. Aside from mix of new and all-time fave monologues, there will also be spoken-word performances by artists from Words Anonymous, Loudmouth Collectives, Utot Catalog, and White Wall Poetry. Emerging indie musicians have been invited to set the night's mood, as well as visual artists who will be doing live exhibits in the spirit of collective bitterness.
Ampalaya Monologues is an episodic play which consists of short monologues that tell the stories of individuals who have experienced the different tastes of bitterness that love has to offer. It is written by Mark Ghosn, and is performed by actors from Theater in Alternative Platforms. Various shows have been staged in the past such as the Halloween-themed #OneMoreTime, Christmas-themed #SingleBells, and an anti-Valentine's Day Show called #AmpalayaDay.
The stories vary from the bitter queen who gets dumped, the boy next door who’s friend-zoned, the LDR couple, the friend who's forever a third wheel, the womanizer who gets cheated on, and many more. No matter what your version of bitterness is, there's an Ampalaya Monologue for it.
Ampalaya Monologues' #TeamAmpalaya is on October 15, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the PETA Theater Center, No. 5 Eymard Drive, New Manila, Quezon City. Tickets, priced at P500, are available through Ticketworld and Ampalaya Monologues' Facebook page.
