Wicked Manila adds one whole week to its theater run

The musical opens on February 2 at The Theatre at Solaire.

(SPOT.ph) As early as March 2016, it was confirmed that Wicked will be flying to Manila with its opening night set for February 2, 2017. Tickets were booked early, especially after Visa opened an exclusive pre-sale for cardholders. We’re pretty sure that the good seats are already taken by now.

Luckily, producers announced that the award-winning musical has added one whole week to its theatrical run, extending Wicked Manila until March 12 at The Theatre at Solaire in Parañaque City.

Wicked has always received a rapturous response from Philippine audiences, since its premiere performance on January 22, 2014. We are thrilled that once again Wicked looks set to captivate Manila, with tickets for this return season proving so popular that we have added an extra week. Our cast is very excited about performing to such an enthusiastic fan base, and to introducing this amazing show to new audiences,” says James Cundall, Producer and Chief Executive of Lunchbox Theatrical Productions.

With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and theatrical adaptation by Winnie Holzman, Wicked's story is a retelling of the tale once created by L. Frank Baum in the children's book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. It follows the unlikely but profound friendship between two sorcery students—popular girl Glinda (Carly Anderson) and green-skinned girl Elphaba (Jacqueline Hughes). Rounding up the cast are Bradley Jaden (as Fiyero), Steven Pinder (as The Wizard and Doctor Dillamond), Kim Ismay (as Madame Morrible), Iddon Jones (as Boq), Emily Shaw (as Nessarose), and Jodie Steele (who alternates as Elphaba).

Wicked runs from February 2 to March 12 at The Theatre at Solaire, Solaire Resort and Casino, Aseana Avenue, Parañaque City. Tickets, priced from P1,750 to P7,000, are available through Ticketworld.
