PHOTOS: Feel-Good Broadway Hit Sister Act Is Now in Manila
Catch it until July 9.
(SPOT.ph) "It's Sister Act! Who doesn't know Sister Act?" chimed Emma Brock in an interview with SPOT.ph. We couldn't agree more with the actress who plays Mary Patrick in the Broadway musical Sister Act, which premiered at The Theatre at Solaire on June 29.
Sister Act, the musical, is based on the 1992 American comedy film starring Whoopi Goldberg. It follows the story of disco diva Deloris Van Cartier (Dene Hill) who witnesses a bloody murder committed by boyfriend Curtis Shank (Brandon Godfrey). To protect her, Philadelphia police officer Eddie Souther (Will T. Travis) brings her to a convent where she can hide until the court hearings. Of course, it isn't easy for Deloris to give up her glittery dresses for a black and white habit, especially with the strict rules under Mother Superior (Rebecca Mason-Wygal). But she eventually trades in the glitz and glam for sisterhood and friendship, things that not even money or fame can provide.
Here are some photos from this inspiring musical, both onstage and off:
